Drama School - an SEC primer

Kills me that there is absolutely no mention of the fact the UT's non-conference schedule was 10 times harder than 95% of the rest of the SEC. No mention of the fact that we won 4 games in a row to win the early season NIT and beat 3 decent mid majors in the process and then handled Nova in MSG. How many other teams in the SEC have beaten 2 top ten teams? How many other teams in the SEC have beaten ANY top ten teams?

Stopped reading at Dana. She's a girl. What could she possibly know about sports.

Seriously though, the losses to a bunch of city colleges could hurt us. Gotta play strong from here on out. Any slip ups here on out would be bad.

I think the inconsistency of the vols among other teams are a large part of why this article was wrote in addition to where the vols are placed in it.

As long as you win the games in Conference that youre supposed to win then youll make the tourney. Basically, if you beat all teams from the West, split with UF, split with Vandy, drop two to UK and sweep UGA and USCe then youll make the tourney. Im not saying that you will lose those games, Im just saying if you go 12-4 in conference then youll make the tourney without another quality win and even a loss to UConn. The biggest thing hurting you all is losing WTF games to garbage teams.

If Georgia (Dana's longshot) makes the tournament before the vols do, I will eat a earthworm sammich and put the video on youtube

The NIT is a strong possibility if we continue to play like we have against unranked teams

Drama never far away in Southeastern Conference - ESPN

Also, who the hell edits espn articles? Did anyone see this on the weekend watch?

"Tennessee at Arkansas (ESPN3, 1:30 p.m. ET): The Vols looked like the Vols in crushing Memphis on the road. Now the trick is to see if Tennessee can play with that kind of intensity, purpose and passion on both ends of the court with Bruce Pearl on the sideline, sitting out the first of his eight-game SEC suspension. The pressure is on associate head coach Tony Jones to coach the Vols to a game they should win to open SEC play."

ESPN must have made her do that. She already embarrassed herself enough trashing the Vols before the Nova and Pitt games, I wouldn't think she REALLY feels that way. There's my conspiracy theory for 2011. (lol i'm about 1/4 serious on this post)

Tennessee will likely have a top 5 RPI after the Arkansas game, we will be ready for SEC play, but the Arkansas game will be a huge first step because they are going to be really pissed after getting killed by Texas (similar to our beating of Memphis). The only loss that looks really bad on our record is Oakland, which was inexusable. Charlotte is a hard place to play and they are playing better lately. USC killed Texas, barely lost at Kansas and should do very well in the Pac-10 (top 2-3). College of Charleston played the game of their lives against us and also almost beat UNC in Chapel Hill. They have a respectable program.

I think we can go 9-7 and win 2 games in the tournament or 10-6 and win 1 game in the SEC tournament and we will be in the NCAA's. We will have serious problems if we enter the SEC tourney with 12 losses, although we will presumably have a top 10 RPI. I fully expect Tennessee to make the tournament this year, but only win 1 or 2 games at most.
