I'm happy for him and his family also. I be the first to admit I was wrong about this kid, I just figured he wasn't doing good at tech so why would he be able to compete in sec.
He has all the tools to be a great Qb that's for sure. Thanks Hendon!

If you look back, it's seems to be more of coaching malpractice by Justin Fuentes. Hooker's stats were solid and considering he was dealing with an injury in 2020 that caused him to miss time.

"Hooker finished his Hokies career with a 63.1% completion percentage, 2,894 passing yards, 37 total touchdowns and seven interceptions."

And consider this...

"This wasn’t a case where Hooker was blocked by a glut of blue-chippers like we’ve seen at other places. Nobody faults Ohio State for losing Joe Burrow to LSU when Dwayne Haskins was about to throw for 50 touchdowns in a season. This was a situation where the Hokies’ staff preferred Braxton Burmeister, who’s now transitioning to wide receiver at San Diego State. Every coach has misevaluations, but that’s one of epic proportions."

Interesting to look back at Hendon's message when he transferred.

He is so smart and such a genuinely good person and amazing leader - I have to somewhat believe it was divine intervention - for a people that had been wandering in the desert for 15 years. What a great person HH is - and he plays a little football too.

Hooker is on his way - well, he’s probably there already - to being one of those Tennessee legends who we fans all point to when asked about the key figures in the history of the program.

We’ve still got a lot of football left to play, but Hendon Hooker seems to have been the perfect match with Coach Heupel’s philosophy to bring our program back from the dead. Happy for him. Happy for us. Happy for Tennessee!

Burmeister has been playing QB this year but SDSU’s passing attack is dreadful.
