Drinkwitz to Missouri (merged)

Don’t know about this one. Could be good for Vols. He did this with Satterfield players.
If I were him I would have stayed at Appalachian State for a few more years at least. Former GT head football coach Paul Johnson or Kennesaw State head coach Brian Bohannon would be good possible replacements if he leaves for Missouri.

Paul Johnson is retired. He’s not coming out for Appy State.

He's still a bit of unknown. He went 12-1 this year, but it was with a program built up by Scott Satterfield. Could end up being good or could end up being a huge bust.

Better hire than Arkansas, though.

I wonder how good of a coach he is. App St has had 2 coaches Jerry Moore and Satterfield from 1989 to 2018.Hard not to mess up after what those 2 have done.Hope App hires Shawn Clark as their next Head Coach.

It could be a good hire, or it could be Butch Jones 2.0. Like Jones, there's no evidence at all that he has the ability to sustain a winning culture.

Of course, the verdict is still out on our guy too, but I am starting believe.

Unknown commodity, IMO. App St should have been very good this year, and they were. All he proved this year is that he's capable of not messing up something that was handed to him on a platter. He'll have a decent little rebuilding job on his hands at Mizzou.

I'm still kind of surprised they fired Odom, to be honest. I thought that the 7 and 8-win seasons that preceded this year would give him a little cushion to withstand a 6-6 season, especially considering the sanctions and bowl ban. I never thought he was a particularly great hire for them to begin with (he seemed like the safe, lazy choice once Pinkel retired) but it isn't like he was awful. I think the Wyoming and especially Vandy losses did him in. Going into that Vandy game, they were 5-1 and #22 in the country, then lost 5 in a row.

Small sample size, but he appears be to a good coach. He was a good offensive coordinator.

App St finished 45th last year in the FPI. Their preseason rating this year was 64th. They’re currently 30th. So he’s out-performed Satterfield and preseason expectations. Great for one year. But it’s also just one year...

Good choice for Missouri and Applachian State is becoming a cradle of football coaches.

This hire is a classic overreaction. Paid way too much and aimed too low. They will regret this in 3 years.

Don’t see how you get that. Like I said 2 coaches since 1989. Satterfield is a great coach and proved it for 6 years. Drinkwitz still hasn’t recruited a class really yet. He had to finish what Satterfield started last year. Now he just left the kids he had recruited this year. Time will tell. As a Vol fan does this hire worry you.

He was a pretty darn good OC at NC State and they certainly missed him this year. He is one of those rapidly rising young guys that really hasn't spent enough time anywhere to be absolutely sure he is "THE" guy but If you are Mizzu you can roll the dice on the guy cause he will build a dynamic offense with players he has avail to him. They should be fun to watch and that's what they needed to put butts in the seats and winning will follow I'm afraid. Don't know about his recruiting so we will have to see if he can get SEC east caliber athletes to Mizzu.
