he same can be said Thornton, who adds those qualities to his 315-pound frame, Bay coach Mike Healey said. The 6-4 senior played defensive end and fullback for the Tornadoes this season, providing both sides of the ball with what Healey called, “a dominant player that every coach wants.”
Thornton averaged 7 yards per carry for Bay this season, finishing with 612 yards and seven touchdowns. He also had 49 tackles while receiving extra attention from opposing offensive linemen.

Healey said Sullivan told him that Thornton would see time on both sides of the ball in Lakeland.

“He’s a very gifted athlete, has a good vertical jump and he was timed at a 4.82 on the track,” Healey said. “He’s a tough kid. We actually have game film of him running over all 11 members of the defense.

“He’s an impact player and we’re all excited he has this opportunity to play in this very prestigious game.”

Four-star defensive tackle Kyrhi Thornton has been rumored to be committed to South Florida but sources say that isn't accurate. While the Bulls appear to be his leader, Thornton will be visiting Arkansas sometime soon and Tennessee has now expressed great interest. Thornton was committed to Florida State but the 'Noles backed off when it was determined that the big man wouldn't be ready to enroll in January.

Fits the profile.

A year at Hargrave puts him in a better position to contribute earlier I think.

absolute physical specimen. He is just a great football player. Finding a position can come later, just sign him as an athlete.
