If you were to take a stab at things, who do you think we end up when it's all said and done at DT?

you think we only take 4

Probably because DB and OL is a big need, and then we got to take at least 2 WRs.

I have been bashed for this in the past but I honestly think Richardson becomes a DT here. James will be the LT here for the next 3 years and at the other tackle position you have Dallas Thomas for the next 2.

So you're telling me that Richardson, who is a straight-up beast, is going to sit on the bench? This guy has the makings (and I dont care how long his arms are for the LT position) of being the next dominant DT at TN and you know where dominant DTs from TN go in the draft.

any of Wright, Johnson, Gosha, and Bell could probably be starting for us this year.

i mean, we are starting a 255lb true freshman at DT right now.

LV, I keep looking at all the young lineman we have and seeing that we have two guys who look like they will be at tackle for awhile. How could we not put Richardson at DT? The guy is huge, fast, and strong as hell. It just seems like he could come in right away and contribute.

I mean could you imagine having Richardson and Hughes in 2011 at the DT position?

So you think he would sit on the bench for two years? I agree with you about Clear. I've been saying all along if we get Clear and Richardson, then outside of Berry, those are the two biggest guys UT has pulled in over the past few years. I don't care what Rivals says but those two guys should be 5 stars because they are 5 star talent.

This class may not be ranked the highest but it will be the best class UT has had in a long, long time if we get Richardson and Clear. People may accuse me of having orange colored glasses on but Randolph will be the best defensive player we get this year and that's not a knock on anyone, it's because Randolph is one of the top 10 DBs in this class. Rivals says otherwise because of an injury last year, but that kid is a star.

People get so mad at me because I think the future is bright.

Yet, they don't realize we have two guys that will be lock down corners for 2 more years after this year (Gordon and Teague). We have Walls and Hughes at DT next year with guys like Miller, Jeffery, Saulsberry and then Carson, a JUCO guy, and 1 of Wright/Johnson/Gosha/Bell.

DE- Jackson, Martin, Smith, Miller, Parker, and whoever else we get in this class
Then at LB we return everyone except Reveiz and probably will land A.J. Johnson. In Reveiz spot, Austin Johnson will go.

At the safety position, we have Janzen Jackson and then Randolph/Martin/Loften/Waggoner/Brewer at the other one.

QB- Bray and Worley
RB- Poole/Oku/Neal/Williams
WR- Hunter, Rogers, Milton, Rogers, and possibly Arnett and Dallas.
TE- Clear, Power, Rivera
OL- James, Thomas, Stone, Fulton, Gooch, Schofield, Pair, Pope, Kerbyson, Crowder, Posey, and hopefully Richardson.

I know this is long but how can I not get excited when I actually see good depth and talent starting across the board next year.

Great Post! Seeing all of that young talent makes me all warm and fuzzy inside haha...

Do not give up on this year though!

I agree -- DT is our biggest need and Tiny would make a dominant DT for us. I also think it is his best ticket to a first round draft choice and NFL career. Of course, we have to get him to sign with us first, and that is no slam dunk.

Along the same line, I think that if we get Cameron Clear, and assuming he does not make it at TE, I think DT is where he will best fit in for us and the best position for him. Like Richardson, DT will be his best ticket to a high draft pick and a career in the NFL.

Add those two to go with what we already have playing and those we have committed to us, we would be set at DT for a number of years.

Of course the first step is to sign both of them.

If we get one of those guys and a solid JUCO, I will be one super happy Vols fan!
I just hope they get 4. I'm afraid CDD will settle for 3.

My guess, FWIW, would be:

Carson and Saulsberry (which we already have committed)

along with Johnson and Gosha.

Don't know if that is how it shakes out, but would be happy with it for sure.

I know this is getting a bit ahead of ourselves, but I got curious as to what kind of DL talent was out there for next year and saw where out of the 26 or so offers that 13 of them were for DL.... I know it doesnt mean anything because its over a year away but at least we are getting on these kids early...
