Kind of excited that we may be looking at dual-threat QBs again. I know that there are some that flamed, (Banks), but most of the Tennessee legends at QB, (except for that one kid...I can't think of his name), were of the dual-threat variety, (Holloway, Streater, Shuler, Robinson, Martin). It would be nice to see that type of player again.

I think it's funny that now everyone is on AW train when for months he has wanted to come to UT this whole time Dooley was just to dumb to go get him ?????? RF is good but AW is what we have needed for a while no more throwing it away in trouble he can just run it for another 15 yards GOVOLS get AW

Would rather not have the spread offense/dual threat QB crap here, but DH did not seek my opinion.
Still support my team.
Go Vols

I'm not really talking about the spread...just the QB that can make something happen with his feet when things break down. Shuler and Martin were both in pro-style offenses when they were here.

Martin really wasn't much of a dual threat QB. He was a pro style QB who just so happened to have some alright speed. I don't think he ever averaged better than 3 ypc in his career.

Also, the guy you were thinking of was Brent Schaeffer(if you're referring to the one who failed).

James Banks was that QB out of Indiana who played some wideout, but I did forget about that other guy. Thanks.

I believe that he was making a joke about Manning.

I was referring to Banks, actually.

I had completely forgotten about Banks, to be honest, lol.

The one we currently have isn't dual threat and he's pretty damn good

Wasn't a lot to remember. I do recall that Hail Mary he caught at Miami (?).

Florida 2004, end of the 1st half. I believe Derrick Tinsley scored the only touchdown against Miami on an end around in 2003

I hear ya, Coach is a spread / option type coach. In his presser he called it no huddle-up tempo pro style attack.
Just voicing my opinion. Wish that was not our offensive strategy. I personally like a power game or even the run and gun type stuff. Don't like QB zone read rushing/option. That's Florida crap.
Give me a running game that gains yards and eats clock which creates play action passes.
And of course a D that can eat least hold the score to less than 50.
But with all that said they are my beloved Vols and I will root them on as always.

I like good QBs, regardless of style. That said, mobility can be a huge asset when implementing a new system. It means everything doesn't have to be executed perfectly to be effective.
