The last undefeated team in the ACC looks to go to 8-0 for the first time in their history. In their path, the fighting David Cutcliffes.

Some history behind these two NC schools (rivals?), though:

Wake Forest has only gone 7-0 one other time: during the 1947 season.

The team that stopped #12 Wake Forest from reaching 8-0? #20 Duke, 34-0.

It was their only loss of the year and prevented them from winning the conference (as Duke had a 4-0 conference record and they had a 6-1-0 conference record).

Also:

The highest AP Poll spot in school history is a #11 ranking reached by Wake Forest during the 1947 season.

The team that beat 4-0 #11 Wake Forest to prevent the program from reaching a top 10 ranking?

#15 Duke, 13-6.

Wake Forest fans must be thrilled with the team’s defensive performance this week after last week’s no-show.

Final score: 45-7 Wake.

Wake Forest moves to 8-0 for the first time ever in school history.

If they can get another upset or two in the Ole Miss-Auburn, Penn St-OSU, Kentucky-MSU, and UNC-Notre Dame, they could enter the top 10 for the first time in school history.

Well dang. Iowa, Kentucky, and Ole Miss all lost.

Clawson’s Wake Forest is very likely going to jump into the Top 10.

Hard to deny, the guy can coach. He didn’t get much time here, but as a HC, he’s gotten similar results and none of those stops are traditional powerhouses. If the new guy at VU doesn’t work out, I could see him taking that job, but he will probably be able to do even better than that now. Good for him!

GBO!!!
