Duke Calhoun - 6'4, 185 4.31 40 yard dash

Anyone think that we have a chance with Calhoun? He has listed Ole Miss and Memphis as his front runners, but states it's only because those are the only two schools that he's visited so far.

He's visiting UT this weekend.

I think it would be nice to add some of that Memphis attitude to the team. I think Calhoun would become a star if he came to Tennessee.

Memphis athlete's have a certain swagger that they carry with them. I guess you could call it cockiness if you want but what ever it is I like it and I think it would be great to transfuse some of that into the program.

I agree with your idea, but wonder if a one star athlete can accomplish this on a team that already seems a little over confident.

He is actually a pretty hot commodity at this point in the recruiting season.

Again, who cares about the stars?? This Kid is 6'4 and can flat out fly down the field.

Calhoun, who's been clocked at 4.31 seconds in the 40-yard dash, caught 35 balls for 533 yards and returned two of his four interceptions on the season for touchdowns.
(That's about 15.2 a pop)

As a junior, when he was used primarily by Raleigh-Egypt as a running back, Calhoun averaged an area-best 13 yards per carry in 10 regular-season games, rolling up 739 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns on 57 carries.

Bottom line is this kid is an athlete, with the weight program and coaching, he could really be special in my opinion.

The main question is: Can he catch and hold on to the ball? We supposedly had good receivers last year but they couldn't catch and hold on to the ball.

New coach, new attitude, new day. Those kids can catch the ball and they will this coming year. As for the kid out of Memphis, once he sees the facilities in K-town, he will be on board.
