Two Duke football players have been cited for underage possession of alcohol.

Police reports obtained Thursday by The News & Observer of Raleigh indicated quarterback Thaddeus Lewis and cornerback Leon Wright were issued citations early Wednesday morning in Chapel Hill.

The newspaper reported that both players were given breathalyzer tests and each registered a .03 blood-alcohol level. The players, who are both 20 years old, were given citations for underage drinking.

A team spokesman said Duke had no comment and coach David Cutcliffe would handle the situation internally.

Both players were starters as sophomores last season. Lewis threw for 2,430 yards and 21 touchdowns while Wright had 67 tackles, three interceptions and a fumble recovery.

I'd be interested to know if either of them was being disorderly, or if this is just some overzealous cop with nothing better to do. The 21 year old drinking age is one of the most idioic laws on the books.

I'm sure Cut is thrilled his QB is one of them.

Wouldn't be the first time he's had to deal with a QB and alcohol...

Let's face it though, NO COP in Mississippi was going to arrest Eli Manning on any kind of charge other than murder. I doubt the Duke students even know who Thaddeus Lewis is.

It's kind of funny that the citation occurred in Chapel Hill, not in Durham.

Lol.

It happens everywhere, they just got caught. It is funny they got caught in Chapel Hill though.
