I know a few have said something around these lines but does any one else think the duke game is very winnable. The michigan game is kinda different. We have proven to play down to opponents that we should beat by 30 and get beat. We also have a history of beating teams that records say we sshouldnt. Every time Duke has been beaten this year it was by a team they shouldnt have been and yes im including unc in that list. Duke also has a history of not playing well early in the tourney. In 08' belmont alsmost beat them as a 16 seed. We once again have a history of upseting teams in the tourney (OSU last year). If williams can play well late just like last year and tatum gets watever is on his mind off and play good basketball along with scotty and tobias playing well i think we could be set up for another tourney run. Scotty has to get out of his rut though he hasnt played well lately and its hurt us. Watching the games from last year today on my dvr made me realize that the biggest difference between this year and last years team is this 1) they got the ball inside last year (thank you j p prince) and 2) the role players knew thier roll. Josh bone and steven pearl come into games this year and make plays. Last year bone shot when open and played solid d. Pearl would take up space and play tough d. This year bone takes crazy shots and minimal d and pearl drives and missies. If they fix these i think we will be good.

dont think we have much chance...arena will be all duke fans and they are coached way too well to lose to a team like ours...we dont shoot well enough and a goal will be not to get blown out by 25+ instead of winning

I live here on tobacco road, we have more athletes than Duke. If Tennessee wins they must throw alot of bodies at them down low, and defend the perimeter!!!

That would be a good start, but Duke would also have to have a bad shooting night. I don't see much chance for UT in this one if we even get there.

Like I said in a previous post, sure. Duke is about as fundamentally sound as they come on offense and defense. The biggest thing IMO is don't shoot yourself in the foot (see North Carolina). Tennessee has a tendacy to start slow and Duke would eat us alive. No way to stick to any sort of game plan when your playing catchup the whole time. I think if we installed more pressure on defense it might disrupt Dukes halfcourt sets enough to slow 'em down and cause a few t/o's. Nolan Smith is about as talented as they come and it would take a great effort by multiple people to keep him in check. Singler is a force too and a nightmare matchup. Keeping Duke off the boards is huge IMO. They strive on 2nd chance points. Sure we could beat Duke but everybody has to bring their A game.

I agree about Nolan. I think he opens up although of sufficient for singlar and Co. Stopping Smith is the key

I don't think we have a chance against Duke regardless of where the game is being played, but the notion that Duke has a huge home court advantage in Charlotte is a misconception. Of course they'll bring a ton of fans, but North Carolina will too. All UNC fans will be UT fans if the Vols get the chance to play Duke.

If BP can find the players he took to Pitt. then Tn can beat Duke.I dont think Duke can beat Pitt and neither do the talking heads because 2 of the 3 I heard had Pitt in the finals. But I dont think he will be able to find those players in time.

I can't see any scenario that allows for an officiating crew that lets Duke lose to UT. Not this year anyway.

About a > 5% chance of winning this game. When we beat Pitt, I think we hit 11 3's. Everyone got hot, and they got totally rattled. If we shoot 50+% of our 3's then we can win. Chances of that are, well > 5%.

So we're looking at a 5-100% chance of winning? Hope it's the high end of the spectrum.

Guys, there is no way in HELL that we beat Duke. Stop pondering whether it's going to happen because there is absolutely no chance. Why?
1. Kyle Singler will lock down Hopson
2. They will not allow us offensive boards
3. Nolan Smith is going to destroy Melvin Goins and our perimeter defense, we will over help on each play and he will kick the ball out to Andre Dawkins, Seth Curry and Kyle Singler to hit 3 after 3.
4. It would be a win for Tennessee to keep it within 10, but I think we would lose by 15-20.

Regardless, I think we are losing to Michigan. These team has shown zero heart in the last month, takes 10 minutes off each game and are a bunch of pansies. Until otherwise, this season is over. I really dislike this Tennessee team, always been a fan of Pearl and the teams he puts on the floor but these guys are pathetic.

Duke can lose the game against us. Belmont lost to Duke by 1 point a couple of years ago. Also, from what I hear, Butler played Duke close last year. I was in Iraq and wasn't able to see the game.
So, a well disciplined team can beat Duke or at least play them close.

You never know about this team.
They could beat the Celtics on a given day and lose to Indianapolis the next.

Belmont did beat Duke in the first round, but the refs just said, "Hey, we should give it to Duke anyway..." and that's what happened.
