Wow, talk about a rough childhood. Sad stuff. He deserves all the success he is having. I loved watching him play at Ole Miss.

His Mom left when he was 4 and his Dad is a drug user who speaks so poorly that they had to subtitle him.

It was a feature on ESPN's E60 earlier on the show tonight.

Long story short...his mom abandoned him and his 3 siblings and father. They lived in back-of-woods MS and he had to work with his father at age 10 to help pay for bills (picking cotton, farming stuff). His dad always blew the money on alcohol and drugs. He was always abusive and Patrick made sure his siblings did their hw/did good in school. One day he went to his school and said his dad was abusive towards them and they got taken out of that situation and adopted by foster parents. Then from there he was an all-state football, basketball, baseball player in high school. Went to OM, #11 pick in NFL, makes $10m a year.

I enjoyed watching him play a couple games. People wanted to watch him play. Even at Bruceton in high school. Dude was unstoppable then too. Can play every position on the field. Punished people as a RB.

I always loved watching him at OM. A shame he didn't play for a better team.

Should have been wearing orange. Pretty sure we didn't even offer, sad.

The story that was told to me is that Fulmer never offered him a shcolorship because he played at a small 1A school in west TN. TIFWIW......

Bruceton is a 1A school, but this dude could have played for anybody. He would have stood out on the best high school team in the country. Everybody knew it. If anybody on the staff would have watched him play....

What caliber recruit was he coming out of HS? Was he an "under the radar" type player that was just overlooked by everyone else?

A guy that I use to know played out in Greenfield in west TN about the same time PW did and he told me he was a man child out there. CPF dropped the ball on that one.

Read on Wiki that he was a 3* that chose Ole Miss over Memphis. Imagine if Memphis had Willis along with DeAngelo Williams and Danny Wimprine. They may have turned some heads and realed off multiple 9-10 win seasons those years that they were actually respectable.

Patrick is a great guy. He is always giving back to West Tennessee. Helped Central High School afford some new facilities. I got to wear his Cotton Bowl ring. Thing was bigger than my head.

They played in our district, as well as Greenfield. He was(and is) a beast.
