No release date as of yet. Also said the game is in early development stages. Stated it wouldn’t be tied to the NCAA, it’ll be called EA Sports College Football.

I don’t understand how they intend to compensate players based on likenesses. Are guys going to get checks for a few bucks each?

Hmmm, I'm old school lol, I wish it was NCAA.... and as far as "likeness" of players: I've always thought that was preposterous, its animation with Helmets on lol.

Oh I agree but I’m fine with them doing a “generic” roster and allowing end users to alter them. I still play NCAA 14 (I mean EA College Football 🤣) with an updated roster each year.

I agree with you however.... I must have missed something. I always helped TG&Y open up on the release day of the game ( of course I mean Walmart lol, I just didn't want to mention them lol) but I never recalled getting the game with the rosters already inserted. I would have to manually go in and manipulate Tennessee's roster, everyone always had just a number. This was a few years before you could get online and purchase the entire roster and download it to your game from a third party.

Oh, I always added myself too.... not in the starting lineup but I was an off the bench impact player lol 😜

No you’re right the game always had the players number but never the name. EA got itself in hot by using the players likeness such as height and skin color. That’s why I bet they go with a generic roster of some type that way there’s no confusion, giving us the keys to go in and alter it. Because EA isn’t profiting after a end user changes the roster.

IMO, that really detracts from the allure of the game.

It's 2021: put the actual players in there and cut the athletes a share of the profits. Remember, they benefit too from the exposure.

I haven’t played it since around 07 or so. Names were left off but stating line up numbers matched real life rosters along with measurables, skin and hair color, and class year all lined up. Skill level was allocated based on previous seasons as well. For the ranked teams it was obvious who the players were supposed to be.

I can see EA charging for expansion packs to update Team X roster. Then allocate that money based on expansion packs sold.

Yeah it does take away some allure. I mean I still play 2014 and update the roster each year.

In agreement with the 2021 statement. But that would require NCAA to come off its thumb and change some rules etc. Since current NCAA rules prohibit athletes from selling their NIL rights while in college.
