DeSean Jackson released by Philadelphia Eagles - ESPN

The Philadelphia Eagles on Friday released wide receiver DeSean Jackson.

The Eagles issued a statement on Twitter.

After careful consideration this offseason, Eagles decide to part ways with DeSean Jackson. The team informed him of his release today.

- Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) March 28, 2014
Jackson stunning departure from Philadelphia comes just two years after he signed a five-year contract extension. He was due to make $10.5 million in 2014 and was owed $30.5 million over the remainder of his deal, but none of that money was guaranteed.

Recent reports surfaced that the Eagles were looking to trade Jackson.

Jackson, 27, set career bests in receptions (82) and yards (1,332) and tied his career high with nine touchdowns last season, his first under new coach Chip Kelly.

So an alleged gang banger gets cut, but a known racist gets an extension from the same team.......hmm

I know.

Jackson was gone sooner than later. I just thought it would be next year.

he'll definitely get signed, 1300 yards and 9 touchdowns

Maybe ...maybe not. supposedly there are more details yet to come on all of this.

DeSean Jackson's gang connections troubling to Eagles | NJ.com

His house was broken into recently and the details have prompted further investigation outside of the robbery itself. The owner and gm were advised not to speak on matters concerning him today by their law counsel.

I'd wager that Kelly was just sick of him and this is just what he needed ( on top of his usual b.s.) to justify getting rid of him.

As long as he didn't kill anyone(even then, Ray Lewis) he'll get another shot somewhere.

See PacMan Jones, Vick, Burress, Leonard Little, Stallworth, etc.

I don't know. They must have quite a bit more info than is public. The fact that they didn't trade him speaks volumes.

Any other day, the Raiders would’ve already made him an offer. They may yet but at a lower price. Ink him, draft Sammy Watkins with the #5 pick, a healthy MJD, Mycal Rivera had a solid rookie year, and maybe a spark of life in Oakland. At least it would make Schlub’s job easier until they draft a real QB. JMO.
