This many being EEs is wild to me. I wonder if this will be the new trend. It's an enormous advantage to their growth and development to have them 5-6 months early, and learning the system.
Not just a trend but a strategy by the coaches iyam. They want smart players who can come in and compete to build competition and the roster. The sooner the better. Jmo

It’s great for learning the systems but also a great jump-start to strength and nutrition. David Sanders as a 275 lb OT can’t help us, but I bet by Fall Camp he’s 295 plus and could play in a pinch. The physical difference is tremendous.
I think David will be a solid 6’5 310 when 2025 kicks off.

Yep. I talked to him outside of gate 21 before the Kentucky game. I’d say he’s about 285 right now, but has the frame to add a lot of weight quickly. The fact he has no bad weight is great. No fat to trim before adding muscle. Just go straight to muscle building.

With him enrolling in a couple weeks and starting on UT’s strength and nutrition program, he will have 9 months to add that good weight. I think 310 is reasonable.

My wife and I talked about this last night and there’s SO many angles that benefit an EE. Just think about your mind getting over everything from living in a dorm, learning f where classes are and getting used to balancing your life, meeting people, etc. now your focus on football and balancing everything gets accomplished so much earlier and you can be ready for the season.

Then you think about culture. You don’t have this huge pocket of newbies to get worked into the teams chemistry and culture. They’re IN already and everyone knows everyone and are cementing their relationships and trust.

There are so many things not even directly related to football that still HELP. This is enormous. I remember when EE was mostly QB’s and a player here and there and now it’s becoming everyone.

Also think about the fact that if a kid can EE then that means they’re at least a solid student. It’s hard to be an unfocused moron and still do in HS what you need to to be an EE

EE has nothing to do with being a solid student. I personally know a kid this year that probably shouldn’t even be able to graduate in May due to lack of effort in classes that will be an EE at a SEC school in January. Grades are still given and not earned by some. We are well beyond “student athletes”. It’s all about the $$ for the universities and athletes.

You aren’t wrong. We often struggled with EE’s the most at the Thornton

I think it also lets the coaches know what they need to target in the transfer portal too. Getting guys in early lets you see them on your terms. judge if we really need to take a player at position X if you like the incoming freshman.

If they get here early enough they can partake in the playoff practices and that helps with the first transfer (in) portal in January. then you also have them for spring which lets you evaluate them before the second transfer portal closes.

Thats more a reflection of his local school system than it is anything else. Small town?
