Thanks, OP. I might not have taken the time to look for all the EEs specifically. Glad I did watch each one. These are some very impressive, sharp young men, notwithstanding their outstanding athletic ability. Just from hearing them speak, you can see their genuine enthusiasm and willingness to work. Some have a little more swagger than others, some are quietly strong, but all seem to be very high quality young men. I am really pleased to have these guys at UT. Not just because they are Vols but these are the kind of people you like to see succeed in this tough world of ours. Wishing them all the best. Looking forward to watching them Rise to the Top! GBO!!

I loved watching each of these videos, the Owen Williams one was my favorite. That goofy smile on his face cracked me up, very contagious. I got the impression he may be a little shy.

I'm blown away by the kinds of young men we recruited. I'm often jaded about players -- too many come across as entitled or arrogant and you can pick that up immediately if you pay attention (most of the time I write that off to being young, needing to gain life experience, and learning to leave the nonsense of high school -- the politics, the grudges, the emotions, the role you were forced into by the time you were middle school and knew you couldn't escape no matter what you tried, the reluctance of adults to treat you like an adult on enough issues to where you can learn to make your own decisions and small mistakes and the catch-22 that when you do make a mistake too many adults are there to tell you how you'll never get it right.

All those things can hurt a young man or woman but college is a chance to start over with the respect of you peers and expectations that you're capable and can succeed instead of doomed to always be the kid you were unfairly stereotyped into being before you ever hit puberty -- too many don't realize carry high school with them into college and even young adulthood.

These young men don't sound or behave like so many highly ranked, and often too arrogant for their own good (you know the kind who despite all their bluster and talent you can read self-destructive tendencies and pain on their faces and into their words), football players. Instead they come across mature and intelligent young men -- the kind who understand what it means to be a student athlete. Words can't really express how happy that makes me because these young men will succeed and watching a student succeed in life is what every teacher, coach, and mentor lives to see. Even if their football careers don't turn out the way they hope, as long as they stay grounded, they'll succeed. They're making the most out of their opportunities in the classroom and on the field and if they stick to that formula all things are possible.

Sorry if that was all too sappy but I'm truly proud of these guys for being great human beings who I believe will be a net plus for our society alongside being good for our team and university.

Read an article earlier on SI.com where AJ McCarron was talking about how some of the highly rated recruits that have been going to bama expect to just show up and win. He said some aren't willing to or don't understand the amount of work you have to put in to win a NC.

It doesn't look like any of our 14 EE's, including the highly ranked like Hurd, Malone, Pearson, Helm, Payne, etc, have that problem.

I've heard Butch talk about his "recruiting profile" several times and it's great to know this staff doesn't just go after the highest rated players like a lot of coaches. Instead they emphasize getting the best players that also fit their specific profile requirements. Things like having high character, good academics, being leaders and winners on and off the field and in the community, work ethic, understanding the history/traditions of UT, as well as how much of a privilege it is to wear the orange and represent UT. These things are always mentioned as being at the top of their list no matter how highly ranked a recruit is.

For those that follow recruiting, you know how long the list is of highly rated recruits we've gotten that ended up being a bust on the field or never finished their career here bc of off the field troubles. We saw it under dooley (DaRick Rogers and others), kiffin's highly rated class (long list there lol...Nukeese, Janzen, etc etc I doubt even Bray would've been high on Butch's profile), and even quite a few from the Fulmer days.

I think it's safe to say our previous three coaches before Butch took some risks on some kids bc talent was likely the most important thing on their recruiting profiles(if they even had profiles that went beyond qualifying and talent). Busts and off field problems are gonna happen when dealing with 17/18 year old kids. Period.

Hopefully we can minimize most problems or don't start having them, like what seems to be happening at bama now, as long as Butch keeps his profile exactly the same as it is now despite how much success we may start to have soon. I honestly don't think his recruiting profile talk is just coach speak. I think he'll bring in these type of kids every year.
