I'm bored and there is nothing on TV tonight so I put together an early Mock Class for 2010 that includes JUCO QB Cam Newton, who IMO could be the impact player we need at QB right away and also a class that I predict will finish in the Top 5 come NSD. I am a bit of a homer, but I could definitely see this staff pulling some of the guys on my list with an 8 win season, which is what I predict. This class is heavy on FL, which IMO is where we should've been trying to recruit for years, and also 4 big-time players from Illinois. I also have 5 JUCO players, which I think we will definitey have to have to fill some holes for at some thin positions. I ranked the JUCO players of what I think they will be come NSD. I think this staff has some confidence that they will land Kyle Prater based off how well his visit went and the fact that he plans to take an official during the season. We all know that Neyland is going to be re-energized with the new coaching staff, despite what BOL thinks. Anyways, I just wanted to give some hope to the future and beyond of our program with what a great classes we will see consistently with this staff. Thoughts?

I think we should start the "fire Kiffin" threads if he fails to win less than 9.

Seriously, I am not sure that Newton is the answer at QB at all. I wish/hope he could be... but I have doubts.

Thats a very possible class that would make me very happy. I honestly think Donald will beat out king for LB but other than that I like a lot of it. I also like the look of Hood at C. I think he will be better than most people think.

Isn't Donald a senior this year?

The only doubts anyone has is his ability to play in the system. He has more arm strength and accuracy than any qb in this class. Plus he's a rare athlete. Hopefully he's as smart as he's athletic and if so I can see nothing but great things for Newton if he comes here.

If we win 9 this year, Kiffin should get a raise and a long-term extension. More than 9 wins this year would be worthy of a lifetime contract.

WTF? I predict 8 wins based off the schedule and the 8 home games we have. Also, I think there is more talent on this team than people think, not enough to win the conference or anything, but enough to have a pretty good year. If we were to only win 6 games, I would still feel good about the direction the program is headed under Kiff and would feel he needed a full 4 years to get this thing turned completely back into contenders year in year out to win the conference. :eek:k:

For real. If Fulmer was still here this program would be down to a level it hasn't been in twenty years. There is no way he would be recruiting the talent kiffin is plus we would not have the energy as a program and a fanbase to pull out some of the iffy games. Plus CLK's staff > CPF's staff. I think that if we get 9+ wins then this season would be a rediculous success and recruits would be knocking on our door to come here because it would be in the news so much. Especially if we beat one or two of Fl, Ga, Bama, Miss then his press conferences alone would be breaking knews on sportscenter.

I do agree though that we have more talent than people think. As much as it may sound dumb I still think Donald will be all sec. If not this year then sometime during his career here.

Cameron Newton Offense-Defense Game Highlights - Rivals.com Video

I think based off this video that Cameron has the velocity in his throws that is needed to play in this system and the ideal size and athleticism that Kiff likes. He also is going to be playing in a pass-happy offense this year which would give our staff a greater opportunity to evaluate him. We desperately need a QB and he is the best available IMO until we can get a stud QB in 2011.

I certainly hope that this is Donald's breakout year and he finally lives up to his 5 star billing. I also agree with you that if we were to win 9 games this that it would definitely turn some heads from the Media and even our rivals that we are on our way back much quicker than they envisioned. I am so excited about football again and wish like crazy I lived in Knoxville to see Neyland re-energized this season. Vols, Bitch!

If we don't win at least 9 games I will be very upset.Screw rebuilding we are TENNESSEE

Unacceptible to live with mediocre results. WIN NOW WIN BIG NO EXCUSES!!!

I think you missed the sarcasm... nonetheless, I see no reason to have lower expectations of CLK than I would have had of CPF, do you? I would certainly think that CPF should should have beaten- WKU, UCLA, Ohio, Memphis, USC, UK, Vandy, Aub, and either Ole Miss or UGA.

Also, I think there is more talent on this team than people think, not enough to win the conference or anything, but enough to have a pretty good year.
There's enough to win the SEC... just not enough to make it very likely. It is extremely unlikely but not impossible.

If we were to only win 6 games, I would still feel good about the direction the program is headed under Kiff and would feel he needed a full 4 years to get this thing turned completely back into contenders year in year out to win the conference. :eek:k:
I'm glad you would... because I wouldn't. If they win only six then that means they would have lost two out of 5 to USC, UCLA, UK, Aub, and Vandy... I would not see that as acceptable much less an indication that the program is headed in the right direction.

CLK is the beneficiary of a pretty favorable schedule to help him get it going this year.

I like the 2010 depth chart...replace Curry with Schoefield and that OL doesn't look half as scary as I had originally thought :)

One thing though...IMO...there's not a snowballs chance in hell that Reviez starts in front of Askew after Askew's got a full year in our program under his belt...

I would also put Donald starting ahead of King...I think he'll reach his potential under this staff with time

King may be the guy who takes Reviez' spot instead of Askew. King has looked more impressive than Askew or Nelson up to this point. Monte loves him...

Does anyone see askew as a better fit for outside linebacker or should we keep him inside. If king outplays him then we could stick him inside then Askew and Donald on the outside sounds pretty good. And Vader, how many practices have monte and the coaches seen these guys... Just curious.

There haven't been any real practices yet. I believe they start tomorrow. We should get a better understanding of who's gonna do what within a week or so...

And FWIW, Berry has deemed Savion Frazier as the "next Jerod Mayo."

Anyone think a true frosh will see time?

I do. We haven't got great depth. If Rogan doesn't make it in or if something happens to Vinson, I would expect Jackson or Myles to be starting somewhere. King or Askew could end up taking Reviez' spot. Montori Hughes is the #3 guy in the DT rotation and should see the field alot especially with Brown hurt. If Walls makes it in, he should be the #4 DT...

On O, Schofield may be the starting RT. Nuke should see the field quite a bit in the slot. Of course we all know about BB...

I have heard that too. Very exciting!
