Currently here are the SEC East standings...

Missouri 3-1
USC 4-2
Florida 3-2
Georgia 3-2
Tennessee 1-3
Vanderbilt 1-4
Kentucky 0-4

So here is what could happen....We win out. 5-3 with a division record of 4-2.

USC loses to Florida and beats MSU. 5-3 with a 3-3 division record.

Florida loses to Georgia, beats USC and Vandy. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record.

Georgia beats Florida and UK, but loses to Auburn. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record.

Missouri loses to Tennessee and Tamu, but beats Kentucky and Ole Miss. 5-3 with a 4-2 division record.

Now there are FIVE TEAMS at 5-3. Head to head eliminator does not work, since all five teams have beaten each other.

Next tie breaker is division record. This means USCe is out.

Of the four teams left, it comes down to ranking. FSU hammers Florida and Georgia loses to Ga Tech and drop out of the rankings. We are ranked ahead of Missouri by virtue of beating them, and so we go!

LOL...the above is very unlikely, but it COULD happen.

Heck, I just wanna see five teams tied for the lead. :)

Frankly, I would love to see the BIG ORANGE win out. But ... a trip to the SEC game this year would demean that game. The Vols are simply not ready for that step (yet). We will win the SEC again. The time is nearer than it has been in several years.

Would love for all that to happen minus the us going to sec champ part. Besides it's proven better to finish second in the east last couple of years

Great post, I saw this on TSR website too. It all starts Saturday with our win over Mizzou.

If this happens, for real though, it would make 2007 look easy breezy.

Blasphemy! Having Tennessee in the SEC Championship would never demean that game. As far as right now goes. Joshua Dobbs led TN team is still a 10-10 tie to the number 1 team in the country. Am I wearing my orange colored shades? You bet. But imagine what it would do for our recruiting to be in that game.

Agreed! Going to the SEC Championship would do absolutely nothing but good things for our recruiting. First year head coach making it to Atlanta gets a lot of attention. Anyway, who in the east is Bama not capable of thumping like they did us. I don't think us being there would demean the game anymore than Mizzou or USCe.

No it would not demean the game.

If they make it there they are ready and they earned it. You sound scared. This statement is the perfect example of the difference between a loser's and a winner's mentality.

Get to that game and a whole lot changes. What if Auburn, LSU or Texas A&M gets there does that demean the game.

Does FL, GA, Mizzu, or USCe getting there demean the game.

You sound like Slive talking.

OK, lets take it further, say we do get to the Georgia Dome. And between now and then, a couple of critical Bama D-line starters are injured and out for the year, McCarron comes down with stomach poisoning the night before the game. Bama RB's Yeldon, Henry and Tenpenny get arrested for partying too hard in Hotlanta, and voila, the VOLS win.

We aren't going to the NC. Who would then? Does Ohio State fit in the NCG? They are currently at 20-0 running back into last year and expected to win out. Would it be Oregon vs Florida State, or Clemson, or who?

With all our losses, but as SEC Champs we are BCS Sugar Bowl bound, who would be the At Large opponent?

It could happen!

Well ... makes as much sense and is just as fun as the OP, ain't it?

Doubt we would get Sugar Bowl, they'd send the 2nd from the West there, whoever we would beat would go Cotton, we would go Capital One, IMO.

Winner's attitude versus loser's attitude. Alabama may not make it a whole lot of football to be played.

I could definitely watch a 10-10 half again.
That one occurred long after the game had been decided. I am finding it harder to have a winner's attitude after a 45 point loss and a 35 point loss.

:clapping: Way to go!

See! See! Only on VolNation can one get others to indulge in pointless but fun speculation while wasting time!

Speaking of, I've wasted far too much time on here the last two days. I'm retired an I got my Honeydo list to finish before the goblins come and the Holidays get here.

Gotta:

1) Clean the garage (see what's on VolTalk)
2) Get leaves off sidewalk and porch. (Watch ESPN)
3) Hang spiders an cob webs (oops started rainin-Listen to Sports Animal on the porch)
4) Go buy candy -(an look for new Smokey grey shirts at Alumni Hall)
5) Straighten up attic and find all X-mas lights and make sure they work. (Check out GoVolsXtra)
6) Clean and vacuum car (heck with washing it, it's rainin) and pack for trip to Columbia. :dance2::dance2::dance2:

You get the point.

Look anything can happen in College Football. We "what if" scenarios it to death.

If it happens it happens for a reason. Let's just wait and see.

If we were to get to the SECCG it would be a major accomplishment and with this schedule they will have earned it.

I have seen lesser teams get there and even to the NC game.

Let's not taint it with I don't want to see this again without even knowing who the opponent is and I definitely would not want to take an accomplishment like this (SECCG) game away from our players just because a fan doesn't want to see another pre predicted loss by 35 to an unknown opponent.

Let's just wait and see. It will only be a plus if we make it there because it is a validation of our team headed in the right direction. Why take that moment away from the players especially the Seniors? For your on personal embarrassment.

Do this if they make it, then you have a choice to simply not watch the game or attend. That is the simple solution.

The East is down but this is part of the process of rising to the top ahead of schedule. Fear no one. Have faith.

Do you think the 98 Championship team did not have breaks or fate or destiny on their team. Arkansas fumble is just one example.

Ok just had to set the record straight that a SEC West loss to a east team isn't that bad as it technically isn't a east loss so in this scenario Georgia wins the east.
