Eating Crow

Earlier in the year I thought ZZ was better than Chandler. ZZ is a really good player and will get even better, but the lat 10 games or so Chandler has been unbelievable. Yesterday he was clearly the best player on the floor.
No crow to eat man. Ziegler had about a 10 game stretch where he was playing as good or better than Chandler. KC absolutely turned it up though.

Zz is good but his size limits him on offense. If the threes aren't falling for him, it can be hard to watch. Once he develops his perimeter shooting, he will be the star of this team

Usually when the PG is that small he is a liability on defense. ZZ certainly isn’t that. His shortness does affect his scoring. If the bigs can catch his feeds and finish then it opens up what ZZ can do putting the ball through the net. Defenses paying more attention to TN’s bigs as scoring threats gives ZZ a little more time to hit perimeter shots and being able to finish at the rim without getting molested.

I can’t wait to see how ZZ looks with a full offseason under Barnes.

He needs a highly productive scorer in the paint to optimize his game. BHH? ORN? JA?
I see BHH as a stretch 4. Don't know if Tamba or JA can be a primary 5. Can they be physical enough and consistently score down low? We need a.real banger down low as well as a wing that can create and drive the ball.

KC made ZZZ a better player. I’m worried about a sophomore slump for Z but I do think that he will be great as a junior and senior as the cast around him matures.
and vice versa

There was an exchange in an interview after we won the SEC tourney and JJJ summed it all up. These guys are family they push each other and like each other and respect the coach...we are gonna be fine.

I miss the Rocky Top League. I’d love to see these guys in the off season. Only 7 months to go!

Both were great and complimented one another. The electric speed and pace with which they played caused fits for other teams.

As far as eating crow, there was a point in time this season that I was ready to give up on JJJ being a really good player and I was highly critical of him. That missed buzzer beater at TX seems to be where he had a complete shift in his mentality. Yes, he started to knock down more shots, but he had a complete turnaround IMO on his agressiveness. He started to attack the rim more offensively and compete harder for rebounds on both ends.

I really appreciate his play since then and I hope we get him back.

I never for once thought ZZ was a better player than Chandler, but ZZ was outplaying Chandler earlier in the season and the stats backed it up to a certain point in the season. Better shooting %, free throw %, less turnover prone, better defense metrics, etc. However, as the season went along Chandler really stepped his game up and started playing like the highly touted recruit he was capable of being. I’m glad he was able to play through the ups and downs of a freshman season and come out a better player for it.
