So I was wrong. This team CAN win in a slower paced game where Defense is important, and we aren't getting our easy points. Great game tonight team.

Hey JMX, come eat your crow about Vandy not dictating tempo to the Vols. Except for when they lost their composure late, and in foul trouble... Vandy declared the pace of the game. :p

Now that I recall the pre-game picks, I guessed a close game the whole way with UT by 5.

Close enough and a win anyway, eh.

I was really hoping for another foul so that I'd have a minor out from my "do you honestly think we can win a game in the 60s?" comment... :D

That was a great win tonight. We didn't score over 80 and still won. Lofton and Watson were both pretty quiet and we still won. Vandy was knocking down a lot of shots and we still won. It goes on and on. Props to Wingate and the rest of the guys for stepping up and getting it done.

It's also a little harsh to say that CJ was quiet. Handling the ball as much as he does and not turning it over once tonight deserves some applause itself. That was fun to watch. We're still scrappy!

CJ also put down an important three late in the game... we couldn't BUY a basket tonight, and still won. Wingate was a monster, and Bradshaw played as solid as he has been most of the year.

I'm actually happy to eat the crow pie... I still would have rather scored 80+ and won handily.

I stayed after the game for some of the Bruce Pearl show. It's a great way to avoid the crowd and the traffic. I was sitting there looking at Bradshaw while Bob talked to him. That guy is cut now. He's not anywhere near what he looked like last year. I'd imagine that's the case with most of the team. Pearl is whipping them into shape for sure.

Dane's parents are a pretty good example of the commitment these guys have made. I can't believe all the traveling they do.

Did you stay afterwards too or were you listening?

I just caught it on the radio. Traffic isn't an issue for me since I live up the street... :D

Not as much as the people who had UT -7, which was the opening line in Vegas.

That was one of the things Bob brought up to Bradshaw tonight. This team is as in shape as anyone in the country, from tipoff to the final buzzer. Sounds like BP has a really great work out routine between practices and games.

yes they did win, but it was no easy task. they struggled mightily and cj and lofton shot horrible. the big guy for vandy who fouled out, terrell i think, was not in the game long but when he was he was dominating us.

i think this team has a long way to go. if some big brutal team comes through that uses the post we will get killed. that is what ok st did to us.

CBC, those are the same things I had to say before, except I went a step farther and stated that the Vols HAD to score 80+ to win, that they can't win a slower tempo game b/c of poor Defense.

It was a hard fought win, but a win nonetheless, and they didn't even get to 70. So while it is not a RELIABLE way for this team to win, the CAN do it. I'd much rather watch them get up the court in transition and get the easy points on the way to 80+.

Definitely a different type of win last night. Good to see that we don't HAVE to score 80.

Its funny, when I posted that 80+ comment last week, I thought I was the only one that thought that way... I'm now seeing that more and more people felt the way I did, and were pleasantly surprised at how well the Vols dealt /w the slower paced game last night.
