I have a theory, just a theory. I think that USC was looking for the right time to fire Kiffin because they planned to fire him at some point anyway. I think the plan all along this year was to ax Kiffin and they did it when they did knowing he could very well win a few games down the stretch and make it tougher. I almost think that he has been doomed since the start and they were biding time to hire a better coach when probation was winding down or over.
After knocking off #4 Stanford, I'd say his stock just went way up. I thought they'd probably loose today and to UCLA in a few weeks, but now they have a real chance to win out.
If Southern Cal doesn't keep him on permanently, they're idiots.
Off topic, just looked up USC's season on ESPN. Since when does a team have 13 regular season games?
