Upgrade over Brown and Dawson. Stoops gonna have to coach his butt off to keep his job though. Defense is a huge question.

I wouldn't call him a "good" offensive coordinator. They did not have a good year.

They averaged 34 ppg, and that includes the bowl game against SDSU where they clearly didn't give a damn. It's not a great hire, but he's a lot better than Dawson.

Like it or not, Stoops is in Lexington at LEAST 2 more years. Barnhart will not let him go before 5 years.

I always wondered why they didn't get rid of the DC as well. Defense was one of the main issues I thought UK had this season.

One or two he needs to start coaching the defense much better. 4 years in Elliot has disappointed. Stoops was supposed to bring a good defense to UK, and it's been even worse than the offense.

I was hoping they (Dawson AND the DC, Elliot) would both go. I think Stoops had to fire one, and Dawson was the easier to release. Elliot is a friend and came with Stoops from FSU. Dawson was a first year guy who didn't even deserve to be an OC in the SEC.

It's 3 years (not 4) of Eliot (not Elliot).

The DL was outstanding and the LB were not bad last year, and the D was good this year until we lost our nose tackle.

But again, you can't expect the D to be worldbeaters when the offense goes 3 and out most of the time.

Were you at my parents last night? Haha, my buddy stopped by and said the same thing when we were talking football.

Darin Hinshaw is probably following as QB coach.
Here is what makes me laugh. The articles that are being written say Gran's offense did such and such at FSU, Auburn, Miami, etc. I got news for KY people - that's a way different talent pool we are talking about!

He's heading into his 4th, which was what I meant. And I always forget he spells it that way. I've never seen any others like it.

Defense wasn't atrocious. Just young, but still bad when it had so much decent potential. But I wish in year 3/4 we weren't still depending on true freshman and soph. Still questions at most positions. Wish Elam would step up too. LB was better considering what we lost. DLine was bad all year even with our DT. Secondary is young and learning. I just thought with Stoops, who was advertised as a defensive minded coach, we'd be seeing something better.

Jimmys and Joes.

Also, sustain drives longer than 3 plays.

Eddie Gran has been an offensive coordinator for 3 years and all three of those years have been at Cincy.
