Edinson Volquez suspended for banned substance...

ESPN is reporting that Cincinnati Reds Pitcher Edinson Volquez has been suspended for 50 games due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy for a banned substance. Volquez is currently on the DL after undergoing surgery on his arm last season. According the the Evil Media Empire, Volquez's suspension will begin tomorrow.

Yes. Suspension starts tomorrow and Volquez won't be healthy until after the ASB.

That is a serious loophole that the MLB needs to close, games should not count while a player is on the injured list. All said, Volquez stands to lose about $122,000 over the length of the "suspension" because he makes the league minimum this season.
