I've been doing some research on the Pearl situation the past few days and I can't seem to find an answer for a question I have regarding this season....

If we do go to the Final Four or win the national championship like it looks like we are capable of, can the NCAA make us forfeit this season after it's investigation is over?

I tend to lean toward no here simply due to the fact that none of our current players have anything to do with that particular situation. Am I wrong in assuming this?

What is the absolute worst we can expect? Probation and a 1 year ban from post season starting next year?

No, we will not forfeit any games. That generally only happens when a player that is later deemed not eligible by the NCAA competes on said team.

The NCAA only vacates a season when a player was retroactively ruled ineligible and played in those games. since none of the infractions invloved anyone from this years squad, that is highly unlikely.

So what's the worst we can expect? Do we get the hammer here?

If we don't get slammed, what's the least that can happen? Can we get banned from post season play THIS year?

Listen to French Fry on this matter. If anyone knows about vacating victiories, it is tiger high.

If we were to go to the final four or win the NC it is highly unlikely we would have to forfeit the season. This mess is about Pearl, not the players. I don't think we'll be banned from postseason play this year either. I think we're not supposed to hear anything final until May or June.

You may want to look at the Kelvin Sampson situation. I'm not exactly sure what happened. But he was at Oklahoma, broke a rule (texting or phone calls to recruits I believe) and was sanctioned. Was hired by Indiana and did the same thing; I believe that he is suspended now. I don't think either school suffered at all.

IMO

Worst: Pearl Suspension and a scholly revoked

Best: Pearl put on Probation, suspended for part of the upcoming season. Full reinstatement of recruiting privileges for he and his assistants with no loss of scholly.

I've researched the Sampson situation and Indiana did suffer greatly. Luckily, they have a good coach in Creane that's cleaning up the mess.
