So we heard alot of talk about jones and ware maybe not coming if pearl is fired. Also hear that Tobias probably will go pro if pearl is fired, and maybe Scotty. Also heard McRae and golden may leave as well. Figure I'd create this thread to discuss what anybody has heard rumors or confirmed. Also anyone that has access to those players facebooks or twittera maybe updates on their status.

If the players are wise, they will wait to see who is hired prior to making any decisions on their future at UT. Acting on the emotion of the moment is usually not the best way to make decisions.

I agree and completely hope we hire a good coach, thus very persuasive. Hopefully he can convince all curent players to stay and incoming to stick with their decision.

The only player I see making a quick decision is Harris, based on what's been said by he and his father. I truly believe Hopson stays if we get a good coach. The others have the whole summer to make a decision. Either way hops and harris can still declare and come back by mid June if they don't hire an agent.

Ive heard exactly what youve stated above. I heard on the experts on ESPNU that Ware and Jones both may want out of their LOI and that Tobias dad said if Pearl is gone, Tobias will enter the draft. Whoever takes this job, it will be a rebuilding process IMO.

if tobias and hopson want to play like they did in the 2nd half against MI next season, then I don't want them back at UT.

I agree. This is definetly a rebuilding job since the new coach will have to establish a recruiting base outside of the state.

I can see Scotty & Tobias both going pro. I think it is in our best interest to let Chris Jones out of his LOI, the only reason he was coming here was for Pearl. He has way too many issues surrounding him.

Scotty will be back. Tobias will only go pro if he's projected to be one of the first 20 picks. As of right now, I'd say that's a no.

Depending on who we get as the next coach, McRae seems the most likely to transfer. His play is not equitable with his talent.

Jones will probably go JC, anyways. Ware will most likely try to defect. It will be interesting to see how the NCAA rules on his case.

We'll be short-handed next year, most likely. Swiperboy needs to get his basketball act together! Maymon needs to learn to dribble better, and Golden needs to understand he is the starting point guard. Lots of work to do over the summer.

Getting players to improve year to year was the most glaring weakness of the last staff. The search for a coach should be limited to coaches with a proven record of developing young players and a knack for producing overacheivers.

I'm actually less worried about Trae taking over PG duties as a sophomore than I was about Melvin doing the same this year his senior season.

shiz like that makes me sick. "We?" its not we. the kids in freakin college, let him try to make his own decision. if HE wants to go pro, and it is the best thing for HIM, HE should go pro. that said, i dont understand why Harris could not play for a different coach.

very good comment. I agree wholeheartedly. Trae will get better, and I think his future as point guard could be very bright. He may not be a 3 pointer, but he'll develop his slashing in the lane. I think he has solid court vision, espically for a freshman.

With a good hired coach I'll be excited to see Golden develop.

That is because Tobias' dad Torrell has been controlling his kids basketball careers. All of his kids have basketball talent, but Tobias looks like the sure thing in regards to the NBA and they're looking to cash out.

Bruce Pearl served his purpose by allowing Tobias to get minutes and showcase himself for the NBA.

*Affect. Hopson is one of the most overrated, prima donna players out there. I don't care if he stays.
