Have the Turks been better off because of Attaturk and his rejection of fundamental islam and adopting a more westernized direction for the country?

Two groups were better off under the rule of Mubarak, the Christians and women. Mubarak had outlawed female mutilation. Actually Mubarak had done a great deal toward leading Egypt into a more modern society rather than the 7th century barbarity that the MB and salafists have in mind for the future of Egypt.

The prevailing attitude is that they dislike Americans, not Christians. From personal experience, the most anti-christian venom I've ever been exposed to was in Israel.

However the Christians living in Israel are treated far more fairly than Christians in most any moslem nation you can name.
