If you are a senator who do you serve?

Do you do what's best for your state if it's not best for the nation?

Do you do what matches your ideology if it doesn't match the majority ideology?

Do you do what's best for the nation if it disadvantages your state?

So VN - what would guide your senatorial decision making?

I think you do what's best for your state first, if you've been elected by the people of your state.

I believe in article I of the constitution, which is why we have both the Senate and HoR. The senate was created to represent the state, and by default should not attempt to represent the overall interests of the U.S. The HoR represents the people and the counter-balance to the senate.

They should serve their state and the ideologies and the culture there of...

The only problem is the "serving" part any more is how much bacon you bring home in the form of pork projects than actual leadership.
