I'll dare to venture into this topic. With the elections just a few weeks away, what is the pulse of those on here on the election process? Electronic voting? ID's at the polls? Diebold?

I know I'm going out on a limb here but whoever loses will claim voter fraud and will find a few instances to support their claim.

Yep . . . The Cynthia McKinney case here in GA is pretty much going to be the textbook response.

Now THAT is what I was waiting for.

On the topic of dual registration, there is a State Senate candidate here in GA running in Savannah who is registered both in GA and SC and has bounced between the two states to vote in the past 15 years. How much of a problem is this?

I doubt any of you would know the fit democrats threw in Ohio over the last presidential election. Most feel Blackwell, the GOP governor candidate, slided the election in Bush's favor. Democrats should not talk to much, over 10,000 voters in North-east ohio are dead.

Many feel, Blackwell will manipulate the vote once again and take the governor race because Ohio has switched to electronic voting machines.

Do you know how difficult it is to purge dead from voter files? The list is provided by the SSA but the data included is not very detailed. This means for your reference if John Smith died in Hamilton County, OH, potentially 5 other people could be grouped with him and be purged. Smaller counties with staff that have the ability to know the locals and pay attention to these details in the paper, etc. have a better chance at purging the dead.

But many states have very strict laws on purging ANY data from the voter rolls.

"Diebold Election Systems Inc. expressed alarm and state election officials contacted the FBI yesterday after a former legislator received an anonymous package containing what appears to be the computer code that ran Maryland's polls in 2004.

Cheryl C. Kagan, a longtime critic of Maryland's elections chief, says the fact that the computer disks were sent to her - along with an unsigned note criticizing the management of the state elections board - demonstrates that Maryland's voting system faces grave security threats."

The issue is that there will be fraud no matter what method is used. Nothing is infallible. Some methods are more prone than others but what is the best method?

The whole paper trail method means a bum who is registered can present his paper for one free fifth of whiskey for proof of voting.

A popular name to mention in voter fraud is OWB's dream date Ann Coulter. She's registered in NY and is using her real estate agent's address in FL to be registered there as well. If she has done this how many others can as well? With new laws on absentee voting she can sit at home and vote in both states. She could even be in CA and vote in NY and FL.
