I have a cordless power tool that I cannot find the charger for. It shows as needing 24V, 1A. I found a charger in my endless pile of junk that is 12V, 1A, but it does not charge the tool. I also found one that is 19V 3.42A. Will this one charge it? Will it do any damage to the tool given the higher amperage? I have not tried it yet. I hate to order a new charger if I don't need to.

You really need to have a 24V 1A charger. 24V is important you could go with a lower amp charger say 24V .75 A

You should be able to find a used one someplace. You may even find one you can adapt at a place like Goodwill

Gotcha. I was thinking the higher amperage might be a problem.

Found one that is 24V 600 mA. I am guessing that will work? And yes, it is VDC
Yes, but it'll take twice as long to charge so be patient. Also if it's not regulated keep an eye on the charger, some will go ahead and push for the 1 amp causing the unit to overheat. Make sure the charger has plenty of cool air.
