I’m not trying to diminish the job of being voice of the Crimson Tide, but I never understood how it’s a bigger deal than him being such a big contributor in NASCAR for the Motor Racing Network for so long. I get NASCAR isn’t as big as it was in the 90s, but he was heard across the country for his stuff on MRN.

Maybe it's just me, but something has always seemed "off" about a guy from NYC being Alabama's announcer. NASCAR too. Him saying "Touchdown Alabama!" in that accent sounds so weird, kind of like an American talking about the Premier League or something.

I've heard Eli say, more than once, that he would give up all of his other gigs before he'd give up Bama football. It seems to be the thing of which he's proudest.

I can’t stand to listen to the guy but I wish him a speedy recovery.
