Elliot Williams now considering schools OTHER than Memphis

I don't see how he can get a waiver, if he is still 6 hours away from his mom? Sure, it's a lot closer than Duke, but...

Ha, actually players transfer from Duke all the time (10 this decade, I believe). The PR issue is that Duke and EW have tried to pass this off as a family medical hardship, Harder to spin that reasoning now that he's considering schools 5/6 hrs away from Memphis. Truth is: he was never happy at Duke.

Yeah, the part of his statement where he says he wouldn't consider leaving Duke if his mother wasn't ill bears that out.

What's your take? Is Coach K on the decline, or just in a bad spell? This seems like one of his worst Duke teams in quite a while.

EDIT: I realize he had no control over Williams leaving, but I was thinking more in general.

Duke is nearly double that distance.

He's in decline because he's too busy being a brand to properly run his program. While he was running around China last year rubbing shoulders with Kobe, King James, 'Melo, and Flash, other coaches were on the recruiting trail procuring the kind of players it takes to win championships. K is more concerned with adding to his aura than he is with doing the day to day grunt work required to win big.

Dan Wolken has reportedly tweeted (not sure if that is the proper terminology) that EW has chosen Memphis.
