That is just pathetic. Not only did a player drop 54 points on us, but Kentucky beat us by 20....PATHETIC. I am still on the Bruce Pearl Bandwagon, and I think this team could still be good, but this is a HUGE Setback. We better put together a run like Kentucky did last year and somehow finish 11-5 or 10-4 and squeek into the tournament.

BTW, Tyler needs to be stepping up so much more than he has. I was expecting 24 ppg, 8 reb before the year, and he hasn't come close to that, let alone show hustle when things arn't going his way. JMO, he needs to step up a lot more.

The whole problem on this team is lack of hustle and heart. You got two ballplayers, smith and chism, and everybody else is scared, except tatum, on occasion. This team will learn as they go but it scares me at the lack of heart.

I love the "we're young" responses. The only reason we lost is due to ONE player on the other team. How long is a team "young"?

Im getting tired of the we are young excuse. We have played 15 games so far this season. The being young ended about 6 games ago. This team is soft, have no heart, cant play defense, cant shoot a jump shot, & cant hit free throws. Plain & simple.

When anyone goes off like Meeks, it makes it almost impossible to win, The Celtics couldn't of stopped Meeks tonight.

What in the world happened tonight. I didn't get to watch the game but Meeks had 54 points?!?!?!?!:crazy::crazy:

I really can't wait to Hat's thoughts on this game. What a post it will be...

I know we are young, but that is pathetic. I just hope that the lack of production keeps Tyler and Wayne back 1 more year....we know Scotty won't be going maybe we can put a Final Four contending team on the court next year?

No one stepped up on offense. Defense was terrible as usual. We tried 4 or so different guys on Meeks and no one could do anything. Meeks killed us off picks and hard cuts to the ball. He was totally lights out the whole night. We cut it to 7 late but then...you guessed it...Meeks drills a 3 and the Cats rolled from there.

He knows and understands the game, it won't be a freak out like everyone else. Meeks was not to be stopped tonight. Did we play well? No. Is this the end of the season? No. We are learning how to play and are too talented and too well coached to not improve as the season progresses.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Bruce Pearl isn't the best X and O coach on the market. He is a great motivator and great recruiter and has a good style of play but he needs to adapt his coaching some and play fundamental basketball instead of backyard scrap ball that his boys are playing.

I said the same thing a week ago when we lost to Gonzaga & everyone on here went nuts.

I thought Hat was being ridiculous when he said a year ago or so that there were about 20 other coaches he'd rather have than Bruce. It's showing this year... the guy is good - but quite a few could do the job better - doubt we could lure the bigger names here though.

I said that was right, but that we shouldn't jump ship on Bruce in any manor. He has built us up from nothing and now after a couple bad games we are turning our backs on them? I think we will be hot by the time the tourny comes around, its just a matter of if we are lucky enough to make it by then. We need to be coached a little better X's and O's for sure right now.

Many on this board agree with you, including me. If Pearl is to make Tennessee an elite squad, he's going to have to change up one or more assistants (Forbes is my pick to depart) to get an unbelievable Xs and Os guy in here, and then delegate to him.

We wouldn't be able to get anyone better than Bruce. Unless we go for a mid major coach, that is a diamond in the rough. No way we fire/replace Bruce...No way we find anyone better...

Look im not jumping on him at all. I respect what he has done with this program, but at some point you have to learn to change up what your doing if it stops working.

I agree - look at my last statement - which is unfortunate. We're a stepping stone in basketball (more than likely for the few elite schools) if we were to find someone like Bill Self (who we could have had) at Oral Roberts.

Perhaps the magic is starting to ware off? I'm not going to jump off the Pearl bandwagon just yet, but it just seems like he's never able to make adjustments. Not just this year, but all four years he's been at UT.

I really think the talent is there right now. I just can't tell if its lack of good coaching or the experience of the players. Time will tell i guess....
