Eminem named artist of the decade.

Seems strange they say 'named.' It doesn't really appear to be a choice but a competition of numbers.

I don't pay attention to much pop music, but I've always found Em funny and entertaining. I had no idea he's had 28 singles and would have never guessed that high.

I agree that Eminem should be up there, not necessarily No.1, but top 5 yes. What I find laughable is the person I would pick being number one doesn't even make the top 20 list. That person, Jack White. I mean seriously, Rhianna, Nelly, and Pink were better artists? Please. Not only did he give us all the great White Stripes albums, he gave us The Raconteurs, the upcoming Dead Weather, the wonderful Cold Mountain soundtrack, and produced Loretta Lynns comeback album. I guess 8 Grammy awards this decade isn't enough.

I would also put Spoon on that list as well as Bob Dylan, Tom Watts, Radiohead, Outkast, The Roots, Mary J. Blige, and I could think of a couple more I think. It's a terrible list.

I don't think anyone 'put' these people on the list. It's just a ranking of sales.

If that's the case then The Beatles would be in the top 5. I would say they are still at the top. I also want to point out there are no country artists on the list. We all know country music ruled album sales. Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson, The Dixie Chicks, and Rascal Flats are in the top 20 in album sales. Metallica has to be in the top 20 as well as Celine Dion, Kid Rock, Johnny Cash, and even NSYNC. Every single one of those artist sold more than most people on the list so I don't think that's the case.

Billboard divides their charts. This is for the pop music charts.

Also, Eminem has sold the most this decade, ahead of the Beatles. (up by over 2mil as of first part of December)

However, I think this is ranking purely on chart success, which is pretty much directly rated to sales in a way each week. I mean, I'm not saying it's strictly sales, but it isn't exactly some caucus sitting around ranking based on artist merit, etc. Eminem had the most single in the top 100 chart which means he got the award.
