Your making extremely huge leaps. Coaches have strengths and weaknesses. Mullen, for his faults, is a good offensive coach and good qb coach. I don't think Mullen failed to develop him. I don't think he's very good. I may be wrong. We have to see Jones elsewhere to find out. But, Mullen's track record is that he develops QB's just fine.
This isn't complicated. If we want to talk about guys who were not developed, I'd look more on the defensive side of the ball.
I, despite your objections, am consistent on all of this stuff. It's a lot of the board who isn't. We've been making fun of Emory Jones play on the field all year and now he's leaving and it's supposed to be damaging in some way?
Florida's issue isn't fielding a competitive football team. They'll be able to compete. Their issue is that they don't measure up to the teams you need to beat in order to win championships. And because they don't measure up.....if there is some sort of issue or they don't play to their capability, they'll get beat by teams that aren't the big boys too.
One thing Mullen had correct is that it's easier to go from 6-6 to 10-2 than it is to go from 10-2 to 12-0.
Florida won't compete for a championship for three years and I said this kind of thing two years ago. A blind man could see that winning 10 games and going to the Orange Bowl was great and heck of a lot better than what we had been watching. But, those teams weren't on the level of an Alabama and they wouldn't be until they had talent upgrades across the board.
In short, I don't think they've taken much of a step back. But, to win a championship, they have to take several steps forward.
