Emory Jones UF QB enters portal

I’m not sure how this could be spun that way. That only leaves one man and he’s not Jones.

The negative is that you will now have a backup with no experience. But, there are two qb's who were redshirted last year on campus.

It's not a QB room of 1.

Richardson is the clear cut starter next season, he needs to get and stay healthy.

Florida will likely add a transfer portal QB and maybe another HS QB by national signing day.

Emory will make a good QB for someone down the road.

If I were a Florida fan I would be happy. Almost like when JG transferred

Yup, except I think Jones will do well somewhere. The one series I watched with JG at Wazu, it was against Utah (or Utah State, can't remember) and he threw a pick 6. I laughed and turned the game off. Good kid, but just not a college QB.

I don't know about that. If Dan Mullen couldn't make much of him in 4 years, I doubt anyone else is going to do much with him either. Mullen, for all his flaws, is still probably a top 5 developer of QBs.
He’s a top 5 something I’ll give him that

I’m thinking more in terms of non P5 type schools, or Jackson State.

As LW said, he's a good kid.

But, from a football point of view, this is bad news......how?
Underdeveloped talent.

Not that I'm not thoroughly enjoying this Gator pain or your personal comeuppance... but Jones appears to be a guy in bad need of coaching. Sadly like too many UT players over the past several years... his career may be too far gone.

Does Heupel and his staff go after Jones?

I don’t think so. Some guys aren’t good.

There was the belief that Pruitt stifled the offense and handcuffed Chaney, etc.

Where’s every Qb Heupel inherited? They’re all gone. Have they had success since leaving? Not that I’m aware of.

Jones is a great kid. But, he’s not a very good Qb

LOL... Don't do that to yourself....

What does UT's past woes have to do with Jones not being developed by Mullen or him walking away from Napier?

We suffered through it with your condescending... self... hanging around to remind us of how undeserving we were of anything better. You appear to be where you are for largely the same reasons UT was/is. One bad coaching hire compounded by another.

I could feel sorry for just about any other program or fanbase. But a big dose of humility is something Gator fans have needed for a long, long time.

Your making extremely huge leaps. Coaches have strengths and weaknesses. Mullen, for his faults, is a good offensive coach and good qb coach. I don't think Mullen failed to develop him. I don't think he's very good. I may be wrong. We have to see Jones elsewhere to find out. But, Mullen's track record is that he develops QB's just fine.

This isn't complicated. If we want to talk about guys who were not developed, I'd look more on the defensive side of the ball.

I, despite your objections, am consistent on all of this stuff. It's a lot of the board who isn't. We've been making fun of Emory Jones play on the field all year and now he's leaving and it's supposed to be damaging in some way?

Florida's issue isn't fielding a competitive football team. They'll be able to compete. Their issue is that they don't measure up to the teams you need to beat in order to win championships. And because they don't measure up.....if there is some sort of issue or they don't play to their capability, they'll get beat by teams that aren't the big boys too.

One thing Mullen had correct is that it's easier to go from 6-6 to 10-2 than it is to go from 10-2 to 12-0.

Florida won't compete for a championship for three years and I said this kind of thing two years ago. A blind man could see that winning 10 games and going to the Orange Bowl was great and heck of a lot better than what we had been watching. But, those teams weren't on the level of an Alabama and they wouldn't be until they had talent upgrades across the board.

In short, I don't think they've taken much of a step back. But, to win a championship, they have to take several steps forward.

Oh... isn't that just the cutest thing!

Jones was the starter for one year, right? UF fans were pretty stoked about him to start the year, right?

As for Mullen, Trask probably never sniffs competitive playing time if Franks hadn't gotten hurt. That's hardly indicative of a QB guru. Franks was actually a better player all way round... after moving to Arkansas where he had fewer weapons and a more difficult schedule. Except for Prescott, who did he make a great QB at MSU?

Yeah. I didn't say you weren't consistent. You're a condescending UF homer... Even now you talk about championships as if Gator fans deserve them.... and you've been quick to scoff at UT fans for doing the same thing.
