Dietrich Riley, who appears to be headed to USC when the recruiting cycle shapes out just tweeted this comment this morning.

Go Vols! Don't let that incident bring the program down!!

Thanks, Dietrich.

Well, at least at some level he still has good feelings about UT. I know one way this wouldn't "bring the program down", if you committed today. Just saying it would help....

Riley, can you give an early xmas present and commit to Tennessee today, I've been extra good this year, and I could really use some good news.

Wow, I'm automatically a fan of this kid now. Seems like a high-quality individual from what I read. He shows alotta programs love and I held that against him but this gives me new perspective. I'll root for him no matter where he goes (unless it's UF lol)!

Riley will be a UT fan wherever he ends up. That's the impression we are making on these young men. Class dude.

I will never hold a grudge against a player from California choosing USC over UT, the simple fact that we are competing with USC with a lot of these recruits is nothing short of amazing.... I can't wait for here in a few years when you have the east coast powerhouse (UT) and the west coast powerhouse (USC) going head to head in recruiting and in BCS games....Oh yeah, and halftime we will have a celebrity fighting match between our guy (Nick Lachey) and their guy (Snoop Dogg)!!!! hahahha

I think that is the case with several kids from their comments. Even guys that commit elsewhere say they will follow TN and that we have something special here. I didn't hear that much during Fulmer era from guys that chose other schools

Does the recent struggles at USC cause some commitments to start looking around?

I don't anticipate us meeting USC in any championship games in the foreseeable future. They are on the decline. Stanford is going to be a team to watch, for sure. They are on the up. Stanford, along with Cal, UCLA, and Oregon might be able to bring USC back from the Elite to the Pretty Good. IMO.

As much as I want to believe it will hurt them, bein blown away like they have been this year will only add fuel to the recruiting fire for them. All of those spots, especially on D that looked stacked, may look less full now
