I'm not sure if it's just the atmosphere surrounding camp and all of Volnation has come out of their offseason psychosis but I feel that there has been a tremendous difference in energy, leadership, and determination. We've lacked all of those the past few seasons. Even former players are noticing the higher levels of effort we are putting in. That sounds like a winning team and attitude. I know that we may have some young players but honestly I think Vol fans have a bright future to look forward to. Realistically, I think we will surprise teams this season if we can have a solid camp and stay healthy. I really want to see heart on the field because we could become dangerous in the second half for most teams.

On a side note, I really hope Worley (if he comes out the starter)steps up and becomes a vocal leader. Great teams have great leaders especially at QB.

This team is starting to believe in themselves and each other, they have the team concept. They are playing for each other and helping each other to become better. They can only improve if not we will be in for another coaching change and I really like what Butch is putting down.... I believe all the players will give their all for Tennessee... and we will be hitting every team in the mouth and saying you donot want any of this... because we are gonna hurt you.

It's a great feeling! The weeds (Doolism) have been pulled and freshness is here. New and much improved leadership is taking form. It's what we are use to....just haven't seen it in a long time. Yes...excitement is here for good reason!

There is definitely a vibe with this team that has been missing for at least 5-6 years. IMO, it's a number of things, the freshman class is w/o question a big part of it. They are far more mature than their age, physically, mentally, leadership wise, in interviews etc., it shows. Our OL and DL both have a chip on their shoulders, and IMO you will see that in their level of play. Plus there is a quiet confidence and togetherness with this team which has been lacking for years. IMO, we will surprise the majority of people this year with the amount of improvement from last year. 2015 is when I have said we really arrive, and everyone will know that TENNESSEE is officially back. Good times are right around the corner guys and gals. :yahoo:

People say "this team puts in more effort" and "sounds like a winning team/attitude" every year.

Enjoy your eternal optimism, but do you honestly not ever notice it's the same team-speak every year but with different faces?

You are 100% right about this. Do you not sense much better leadership among this team though? I have heard / seen better leadership from 2-3 freshman on this team than I saw from quote "senior leaders", the past 5-6 years. That is very telling IMO.

That's why in my first sentence I said "may be the atmosphere". You're correct. Every year there is a passion/hype at the beginning and recently it dwindles by mid season. All I'm saying is that it feels a little different (note that former players have noticed as well) and it seems more uniform since CBJ has been here for two offseasons and he has brought in more hype, talent, and continuous collective hard nose work ethic. So you can either believe it's yearly preseason rubbish or dawning of a new era for Tennessee. I'd like to think it's the latter but we can assess this at the end of the season or next.

Looking at your post history....you seem to be just a big NEGATIVE NANCY.....Just embrace it.

Not only from former players - but from the media - people inside "the hill" - and not to mention the current players. Will it translate onto the field? IMHO, a can do attitude means a hell of a lot more than "dog or bamboo" quips.

Awesome point. How dare people not give me likes all those years before the like button was invented!

I did later give you the benefit of the doubt and edited my original post.

I did give you a like to help make up your sad story!

Your are still a negavol!

And yet my post/like ratio is better than yours. I guess those arbitrary stats mean you're the actual "negavol" here.

Nice try, though.

There was a blood letting and a transfusion with that large class. The difference is palpable. People playing now are either new or were mostly backups to guys that lost and are ready to stake their own claim. What veterans we do have are emerging as good leaders. I hope they keep the passion and that the passion translates to the field.

Agreed! It only makes sense to try and be positive right now. It is obvious that there are changes for the GREAT that are being made. Why can't we be a little more optimistic for the time being. If we continue to suck than I wont chastise so called "vol fans" who are " up in arms"...but till then give these boys a chance who want to help turn this program around.

Lets wait and see what everyone is saying when we are sitting at 2-3 headed into the game against Chattanooga.
