Is this a have a good weekend thread? Does anyone have any big weekend plans? I certainly have what appears to be an interesting, odd, and maybe a little awkward weekend looming. A girl that I have not seen nor talked to since October 2001 called me and asked if I would accompany her to a wedding. Would this qualify as a quasi-blind date?

Indeed. Unfortunately, I am a sucker for free drinks and free dinners. She was also a relatively great looking lady the last time I saw her. I have no idea how she looks now, though.

Could be the start of a "Four Weddings and a Funeral" type relationship....

7-8 years can be rough on a lady. Perhaps you should do a recon first.

Take the chance. At minimum you have free drinks and food which don't happen very often in life.

I definitely tried. Unfortunately, of the common friends we kept back then, I somehow happened to only keep in touch with those that have not kept in touch with her.

The wedding date, I mean. Not the boxer.

I suspect either that she has grown a third head or that she felt that she needed someone respectable on her arm for purposes of either impressing friends or someone else going that she is interested in.

Either way, you are screwed.

And that is not a prediction, by the way.

To the realUT's issue, depending on her level of need and your level of cynicism, it has the potential to be fun.
