A few observations...
1) the gametime atmosphere was outstanding. There was definately an electrical presence in place for Saturday's game.
2) 4th quarter noise rivaled that I dare say of Tiger Stadium. As a matter of fact it reminded of last year but just the opposite. We yelled like hell for the first half when about 20K jackasses left at half-time. Meanwhile CPF mounted the Rally in Death Valley to declaw the Tigers
3) Thanks to most of your suggestions I was able to:
a) Eat/drink at Calhouns - Best Ribs ever
b) Checked out the Vol Navy (Fat Cat boosters with flat screens on their yachts) - Definately cool and a unique tradition
c) Vol Walk - Enjoyed that as well. I saw Crompton & Ainge from about 1 foot away. Could be the two biggest QB's on one roster. I saw Phil up close and he is not that fat as folks make him out to be although the farks are hilarious.
d) The Rock - OK it's no masterpiece but again another original tradition. I took pics with it. A buddy of mine I tailgated with is UT alum and was just behind the rock. He wasn't sure who does the paintings, my guess is frat/sorority or boosters that come in the middle of the night to prep it for gameday.
e) Campus - Absolutely stunning... yes there are some spots that are not appealing but overall I thought it was fabulous. It's hard to compare to other SEC schools because of the terrain.
4) Must admit not a fan of all that orange however, blonde tanned women dressed in cream sickle orange had me whistling "Rocky Top!":whistling:
5) Stadium - Loved the atmosphere - only thing I would change would be added space to include more pissers. Also, the walk areas need to be widened. Finally, I recommend a Jumbotron at both ends of the stadium. Other than that you guys should be VERY PROUD of a great venue!
6) Crompton - better than Tebow now! The future is looking bright for you guys!
7) UT offense - Vols big play potential is as good as anyone in the country. Yes our D is stout but dropped balls hurt you guys early in the game. I've always liked Coach Cutt you guys never gave up.
8) UT defense - Coach Chavis had a great gameplan going into the game. I am not sure why he abandoned it. Our OL was confused the whole first half and during the second half used little imagination. This year you guys really needed a Menonaloa(sp?) type player to step up. Also, Wade brought the wood as well as a couple of other DB's. We have some very physical receiver having aliigator arms for the first time this season
9) Checked out Emerald Club and Last Chance - :boobies: My only knock on the whole trip were getting thrown out of two bars in less than 2 hours time. Now I know why your players were arrested. Penalties are stiff at the slightest infractions of club policies all over in Knoxville We figured there was no way in hell we were gonna try it after the game! We were told the same woulda happened at the Catch!
Anyway, VolNation be proud of this team and their gutsy performance Saturday night as I am sure most of you are! We need your help this week by softening up an overrated PigFooey team! We hope to see you guys again in Hotlanta next year!:toast:
