Enough with Worley and receivers, let's talk Defense.

South Alabama converted on a 3rd and 9, 3rd and 15, 3rd and 10, and a 4th and 9.

Discuss that.

this defense has potential but the problem is a.j. johnson he is horrible in pass coverage and we can not defend the middle of the field for what ever reason.

Defense seemed half way decent when we could actually do more than a 3 and out 6 times in a row. Were they perfect? No.

I swear last year it was brays fault we couldn't hold anyone under 500 yds, now its the defenses fault that our offense scored 7 points in the second half and then got shut down the last 27 mins of the game

We have weaknesses on D that the coaches play zone most of the time to try and cover those weaknesses. It is what it is. Once CBJ and their staff gets players in here it will not be as bad.

I would almost prefer that they run a 3-3-5 than a 4-3

How good do u expect the defense to be when the qb cant keep the offense on the field? Quit putting blame on the people that don't deserve it. This defense has improved ten fold from last year. The blame goes on the qb!! I dnt care if the freshmen aren't ready neither is Worley! CBJ needs to quit with the excuses and get them ready! CBJ missed an opportunity to get one of them experience yesterday and instead he jus let Worley suffer!! BAD COACHING!!

Nope we don't .I will never understand a DE running with WR's across the Middle. sorry Georgia will light our tails up we do this Highschool crap.

Agree. If Richt wasn't such a decent human being, I'd say the score will look similar to the Oregon game. Richt will probably take his foot off the gas midway through the 3rd. 44-10 or something like that. jmo

My main point referred to Bray. Where are all those posters who celebrated when Bray left and said he would have been beaten out by Worley or Peterman anyway. Anybody still believe that to be true? Same thing happened when we had Casey Clausen. Blaming Bray for the defense giving up an average of over 40 points per game to every decent team we played was not his fault. The best QB that ever lived can't overcome a defense that allows the opponent to score at will.

I just love how so many on here think that coaching is the only element involved. NEWS FLASH. It makes an even bigger difference as to WHO you are coaching.

Our defense has no closing speed. That is why we don't close and make tackles when a QB scrambles. Now, I would like to not run so much zone on third-and-long, but another poster nailed it. We have a young secondary and we are trying to protect them. Pick your poison.

I also would like to have a better QB, but Butch didn't recruit our upperclassmen. I am not surprised that true freshmen are not ready to step onto a field after five games.

Give these guys at least a real chance to show what they can do with this program. You will know whether they are the answer or not sometime around mid-2014. To cast judgment now, when they don't even have their first recruiting class signed, is just stupid.

why have they been so many true freshman at other schools ready? Why hasn't our coaches gotten ours ready?

I'm tired of watching AJ run the length of a football field east and west.. We need some speed in the worst way.

Fact, I love AJ, however in these situations Brewer should be in the middle. I do think this D ha potential, they are clearly better this year.

Are not these basicaly the same players that made up last years defense? you know, the second or third worse defense in college football. They're still not very good but are a quite a bit better than Sal's defense. The coaches are doing the best they can with what they have. This is going to take a few more years since the Vols wasted four years after firing Fulmer.
All of you who want to fire Butch, Kiffin is available. Better hope this staff doesn't bolt for sunny southern Cal.
