Am I the only one who is completely stoked to see the qb battle we have coming up? I mean I've never seen one so up in the air with seemingly 4 different guys all with a chance to take the reins. I think we've got a pretty darn strong group of guys and the competition will only make each of them better. In fact i think these four guys have the potential to be one of the strongest groups of ut qbs ( across the board mind you) that ive seen. No theres no proven star yet but i think all have that capability. My prediction is peterman starts, Worley transfers and the two freshmen battle for the two spot.

Good prediction on the depth chart but I cant say Im stoked about it. Whoever it is will have a really tough year and lots of growing pains with no proven receivers or running backs and no experience with the offense or starting in the SEC. I really wish we had a cupcake schedule to lessen the agony but Im prepared for multiple blowouts and a maximum of 5 wins.

no, i don't think that's how it will play out. sure, they'll get a chance to compete, but hopefully they'll get beat out by worley and peterman and take a redshirt year to develop and learn the system.

I agree. I expect Peterman to start as well. Worley hasn't been bad but its not like he's shined either.

I think Worley will hold the spot for a while. If there is a change I believe it will be towards the end of the season. I'm really excited about RF and Dobbs. The WR have to get this new system down fast. I wish North was an EE

I'm so confused why people think Peterman is going to start over Worley. Worley has an excellent arm, some wheels, and his accuracy is above average at least.

Now that we have a talented staff that has won games in the past he will blossom into a great QB that we were all begging for when Bray starting being Bray. Heck...some wanted Simms to play over Bray at certain times during his tenure.

All I'm saying is that a QB that throws for over 16,000 yards and for over 160 TD's and one that won the National Gatorade Player of the Year award is not something to write off.

Is it good to have quality back ups, absolutly, but to completely write him off and assume that Peterman, whom has never seen the field yet, is a little premature for my tastes.

I'm counting on #14 as I have counted on that number before, we all know who that was, to lead us back to be a respectful team that opponents have to prepare more for.

JMHO :hi:

I think this competition will be great! My eyes tell me that Worley has not been great. But, I also don't think he was given many situations that weren't tough. It will be good to see how it all shakes out when each of them has a "clean slate" with the staff.

But, I think the OP's guess at the depth chart looks like a good guess.

Both Peterman & Worley ran a similar offense in HS to what CBJ will install. As did Dobbs. Successfully.

Combining that fact, along with an experienced O-line & RB's, should give whomever starts time in the pocket to find our talented but unproven WR's.

Much like 2012, W/L record will be decided on defensive side of the ball.

I am not wearing orange colored glasses. But neither is the sky falling.

Go Vols!!

Um... Worley has an average, at best, arm and isn't mobile at all. His best attribute is his accuracy and touch on passes.

Compared to all of the highlights that we've seen from Peterman being injured?

Not trying to be a smarta$$, but Worley was put in horrible positions by a coach trying not to lose his job/not do his job.

It is Worley's job to lose. With that being said, Dobbs is the dark horse

I still feel that Dobbs & Worley will share time in the Austin Peay & Western Kentucky games, just like Schafer & Ainge did in the UNLV game.

However; I think that eventually Peterman will take over Worley's job and at the season's end, Worley will transfer.

Dobbs will share time in each game with either Peterman or Worley. If Dobbs can't grasp the offense, then his amount of playing time will deminish.

Ferguson will red-shirt.......

At seasons end, Peterman will be the starter. Dobbs will get playing time. Worley will be benched and at years end and transfer before the 2014 season begins.

I'd like to see 1 or maybe 2 of our QB's be able to redshirt so they can have an extra year to get bigger, stronger and learn the system really well.

Trent Dilfer, who knows a little about QB's, said the QB class we just signed is probably the BEST QB signing class in the country.

This QB competition is going to be excellent and lots of fun to watch to see how things shake out.

I don't doubt that after this season 1 of our QB's will transfer out to go get playing time somewhere because it's going to be tough to work their way up our QB depth chart now.

I can't remember the quality and intelligence of a QB depth chart like we have right now.

The WR battle is going to be fun to watch too and I really want to see if bUTch is going to play the CROOMSTER as a WR or as a TE or both which I think he can probably do.

RB battle is going to be fun to watch too and I think Dabo would have been a 4* if he wasn't injured early in his Senior year and lost most of the year so he could be a serious sleeper on our RB depth chart but I'd like to see him redshirt so he'll be here an extra year.

Fun times are coming when the boys start hitting the field!

VFL...GBO!!!

Compared to what? What does Peterman have to do with Worley's physical attributes?

Worley played well when he was forced into action. That doesn't mean that he fits the offense that Jones wants to run. Peterman fits his offense much more than worley does, or at least his past offense.

We don't know if jones will change up his offense to fit the personnel, but looking at this recruiting of Dobbs, it seems unlikely.

I don't think it'll be very epic. The two newcomers should redshirt

Agree. I keep hearing how it's Worley's job to lose, but to my knowledge, he hasn't been named a starter. Thus, Peterman can still come in a compete and take the job.

I think Dobbs will push for 2nd string immediately, simply because of his versatility.

Does injuries come into play here? What "if" is a big scenario with injuries to QBs. Just like Bray when he broke that right thumb we were all in a funk for a couple weeks. I think Worley will be the one to lose the job. I just hope whoever's the backup will be ready at the get go & won't be lost once out on the field when it's 2 & 15 & then fumble the ball on a hand off.
