Epic Qb Battle 2013

Barring any injury, I really can't see our starter being anybody besides Worley or Peterman. Our freshman qbs are talented, but Worley and Peterman will have had much more time in the system when the season rolls around as well as much more time to build chemistry with Croom, Pig, Bowles, Dallas, Harris, etc.

Unless there are some injuries or Worley and Peterman both turn out to be awful, I think our freshmen will and should redshirt. IMO the real QB battle to watch will be next spring unless Worley or Peterman are lights out this year.

How will they have had "much more" time in the system? I don't see us running the same O from last year.

By the date of our first game, they'll have been learning and practicing the system for nearly nine months. The new guys will be have had less than three months. That's basically three times longer in the system than the Freshmen, plus they'll have been throwing to the WRs who will be starting (minus North probably) for even longer than that.

I don't think that's gonna put them light years ahead though. their only "game time" in the system will be the O&W game.

Yeah, but they'll definitely have an advantage on the other guys. When the freshmen are still learning the verbiage and the playbook, Worley and Peterman will be practicing that stuff full speed.

I'm not saying that's the sole reason one of those guys will win the job this season, but I think it will definitely factor in.

I think Worley will hold the spot for a while. If there is a change I believe it will be towards the end of the season. I'm really excited about RF and Dobbs. The WR have to get this new system down fast. I wish North was an EE

So you predict that we will save the best to be unleashed against the meat of our schedule? May not be too smart.

I know we haven't seen all that Worley can do, but I think Peterman fit's the profile of a mobile QB better. It's def gonna be an interesting summer leading up to the start of the season.

I'm so confused why people think Peterman is going to start over Worley. Worley has an excellent arm, some wheels, and his accuracy is above average at least.

Now that we have a talented staff that has won games in the past he will blossom into a great QB that we were all begging for when Bray starting being Bray. Heck...some wanted Simms to play over Bray at certain times during his tenure.

All I'm saying is that a QB that throws for over 16,000 yards and for over 160 TD's and one that won the National Gatorade Player of the Year award is not something to write off.

Is it good to have quality back ups, absolutly, but to completely write him off and assume that Peterman, whom has never seen the field yet, is a little premature for my tastes.

I'm counting on #14 as I have counted on that number before, we all know who that was, to lead us back to be a respectful team that opponents have to prepare more for.

JMHO :hi:

Worley couldn't start for any other SEC team.

I would expect that one of these guys turns out to be a stud. One small piece of advice to whoever wins the starting job: Chunk it to Marquez, bubba........

Hate to be a Johnny Raincloud here but it won't be as cared about if UT is still stuggling to reach .500+.
Had Tyler Bray last year and look where the defense got em...

I want a leader. I like Bray but he wasn't a follow me type of guy. I want someone who will take charge not just in games but in the weight room in the class and everywhere else.

Bray wasn't the problem last year, the defense was...we could have had Jo0hnny Football and still had the same record....it's not like our offense wasn't producing..they were great overall..

I don't know why everyone is so high on Worely?????? From what i have seen he is NOTHING special...our offense would have been much worse this year with him in it and now you are expecting him to run BJ"s offense in which a dual threat is really need???

Peterman and Dobbs are by far the best fits but Dobbs ofocurse will be too young to be our optimal QB....hopefully Peterman has some Johnny Football type of skills......from what i have seen he looks really good and the staff last year couldn't stop gushing over him....i really thing it's Perterman's job to lose considering his superior natural skill set how hard CBJ recruited him.

It is Worley's job to lose. With that being said, Dobbs is the dark horse

People who moaned and groaned about Tyler Bray's thin frame and weight, look closely at Dobbs. He really needs more heft. I'm certain he is a heck of a player but he's going to get broken unless he ha more heft. Bray had a knack for dodging rushes and few notice it, but also sort of rolling with the hit to minimize the impact. Most of the time. Maybe Dobbs is so fast and slippery he's hard to hit. But if he gets hit with the frame he has now, I honestly fear he will be broken. Smart thing to do is redshirt him so he can bulk up.

Don't know anything about Riley, but he seems even slimmer. Because of this, I think we will see Peterman because of his physical skills and mobility. But if Worley is smart, he will stay put because he's too good to leave on the bench and will see playing time. Not unlike the dual QB scheme seen at the UF and USCeast. If he does transfer, we better pray it isn't to Vandy, KY, or some other mid tier SEC school we face.

Not really. There were games that could have been won late.
