I heard this morning on 107.7 (WIVK) that Randy Sanders has made the decision to start the QB rotation again at the Alabama game. I personally think that it is a bad move. I was just wondering what yall have to say about that.

Doesnt matter now. All we are playing for is 3rd or 4th in the SEC east and a mediocre bowl. Let them do what they want, this season is a wash.

Ainge is the future and he needs to get through his issues. I don't care who plays QB as long as they beat Bama.

this is there way of transistioning Ainge back to a more prominent role. I am sure clausen's role will diminish as the season goes. Ainge will start at Notre Dame. I think the coaches have sent a message to ainge and he is pissed. I think he will play with more fire.
This is about playing for pride and next year. There are no rings to be won. We can at least keep the bowl streak alive.

I am not so sure that this isn't just some head games to make Bama waste time practicing different schemes. I am not sure that the team will respond well to Ainge starting.

True. They have really torn it up with Clausen at the helm.

I have already said that I would like to see Ainge start from here out. He's got to get ready for next year and if it means working out the kinks for the rest of this season, then so be it.

You don't really want to count on a freshman QB coming off of an injury to lead our team out of the gates next September, do you? Also, don't forget how explosive of a QB Ainge can be -- see victories over Florida, Georgia, and Alabama last year -- if he can get his head straight.

Also, I didn't hear anything about "restarting the QB rotation." Sanders apparently said simply that Ainge would "play" against Alabama. To me, that could mean start, rotate in, or just come in at the end of the game if we're up or down by 30. My guess is that he doesn't want to reveal which it will be, if you get my drift.

If it is true that our TEAM doesn't "like" Erik and "doesn't want to play for him" then THEY need to get their heads out of their butts and grow up. Erik Ainge CAN play football and SHOULD play football. If one horrible game is enough to write him off at Tennessee, then he got a raw deal. If Rick Clausen is selfish enough to pull an attitude over not being the main guy, he needs to grow up too. Being a TEAM means doing WHATEVER it takes to better the TEAM. Put personalities aside and let the TALENT shine. That's all I ask.

Show me the talent.

I hope they start Ainge. The rotation is a bad idea as it is very difficult for these guys to get into a rythme going in and out like the first part of the season. Let Ainge start and finish as long as we don't see any stupid tricks like the interception in the endzone against LSwho.

As far as the team not liking to play with Ainge, I don't know if I totally subscribe to that. I think most of these guys at this point would welcome some longer passes and more run flexibility out of the pocket. It gets tough to protect a quarterback that stays in the pocket all of the time. The D always knows where to find him.

All very valid points...but Ainge isnt going to gain 1 '' in getting better, more seasoned, stable, eye of the tiger, disciplined until he gets snaps in live games. If hes our qb for the next 2.5 years...play him now to save next season :eek:k:

Right on. I am one of the few on this board who never got on the Clausen BW. Clausen allows defenses to take away half of the field. It is not his fault.

Ainge should take every snap for the rest of the year or next year may just be a repeat. I would be surprised if Crompton is ready next year.

His talent is good BUT, since his injury he lost his balls. When this happens an athlete is done. Eric, is done.

Extra work

As he was last week, Erik Ainge was one of the last players to leave the practice field. As Ainge and Randy Sanders continue to stay late after practice while Ainge works a great deal on his mechanics from his drops to his release point, to his eyes.

That was pulled out of Tuesday's practice notes. Those are the things that I did not know for sure if Ainge was doing them. Now, knowing that Ainge is actually putting in the hard work and effort to improve, I am excited about his possibilities next season. The talent is definately there, and now that it looks like the worth ethic is there as well there is no reason to think this kid won't improve and become a great QB.

Yeah, ok, thanks for the insight there Dr. Phil. You're an idiot. There is no, I repeat absolutely NO WAY to say definatively that a 20 or 21 year old athlete is "done." He is working hard and the talent is still there. His psyche needs to be repaired, but it is certainly something that can be done.

That does not sound like the Ainge of old (like high school old). This is a very good sign.

It doesnt really matter how old you are, you turn the ball over the way Ainge did against LSU your going to get benched. Turnovers like that will get you benched quicker then anything, Fulmer rarely plays RB's much who have turnover problems. The QB position isnt any different.

Ainge lost the confidence of the coaching staff and the team against LSU. Fulmer stuck his neck out for the guy starting him over Clausen against Florida and LSU, and he really got burned for it.

That's not the point. The point is that just because Ainge has made some bad plays and was injured last year, it doesn't mean that he will never play football again.

I don't know if it's Ainges confidence or just plain being scared, but we are going to see if he has made any changes when he faces that Bama defense.
