Anyone have VQ? Apparently he was quoted as saying something negative about Richt and UGA.... something about the recruiting process?

Fill me in.:dance2:

My favorite part:

I remember when I went on my recruiting visit, coach (Mark) Richt had my name and stats written on his hand. I guess he thought I didn't see it or something, but I did.

Thank you Mr. Richt! I can't imagine how bleak last year would have been without Berry.

Berry is a special player and will be just another NFL legend that we can be proud to say is a VOL!

Berry's legend at UT will pay recruiting dividends for years to come. Hopefully, this year he will get the recognition for the Thorpe award that he deserves.

In the future, I'd love for UT to start giving out the Berry award to the best defensive player every year.

He said he felt he didn't get enough phone calls from Richt, especially since he lived in Georgia. He also said that Richt recruited him as a WR, didn't even know he was a DB, and Richt had Berry's stats written on his hand, using it as a cheat sheet when they talked.

He also said it was obvious that Caleb King was more important to UGA than him, and that turned him away from UGA.

He said he met Kiffin and Carroll when they recruited him to SoCal, and they knew loads more about him than Georgia, as did Fulmer and Tennessee, and that's why he didn't sign with UGA.

Thanks for screwing that up, Richt!!! We owe ya!:eek:k:

All-Americans who start every game from the time they arrive on a collegiate campus are not built from bare-minimum efforts.

Truer words were never spoken.

Honestly, I cannot believe how much I love this kid. I hope every good thing he ever dreams of happens for him.

Seriously do you guys think CMR had berry's name written on his hand? I have no reason not to believe Berry, but that is just hard to believe.

I'm sure Richt knew his name. He just had his name on there and then his stats written under his name.

that's kind of what I thought too. what coach wouldn't know the name of the 4th highest rated prospect in the nation?

Why would Berry lie? I love him and he's a great Vol but he either lied during the interviews in high school or he's lying now. I just read some of the old pieces on him and he mentioned that Georgia sent three or four coaches to his school and he had a half dozen sit downs with the coaches.

He also praised Kiffin. Why didn't he pick USC if he liked them so much?

This is just weird.

Richt is the new Fulmer.

I agree. Richt will win one MNC but no more than that.

Where do you get that he's lying?

He was quoted several times saying very opposite things during his recruitment by both services. Many have already parsed them out. However, I have no desire to do so again when it is pretty obvious what is going on here.

These quotes just happen to come out right after a billboard goes up in ATL featuring Eric Berry as the example that UT coaches hope many to emulate, heading north to UT in future recruiting classes. Feel free to connect the dots yourself, but it is pretty coincidental that Kiffin used his most high profile Georgian whose family has always been deeply passionate about Vol football to help his cause in Georgia, a state that he desperately needs to recruit well.

However, if you chose to believe that a coach as savvy as Richt ( and yes, you have to be pretty dang savvy to remain as head coach in the SEC for more than 5 minutes) really did not know who one of the best players in his state was and the position he played, then that is your own gullibility and you can deal with it as you care to.
