Erik Ainge

I don't know why this post made me remeber this but for those who grew up in and around East Tennessee you know Randy Sanders is a FINE product of my hometown (Morristown, TN). I remember me and a friend were eating at Pizza Inn in Morristown and we were getting up to leave and Randy Sanders was sitting in the back. You know when you see people that get talked about on ESPN usually your like "Dude, It's him". Instead I just wanted to go blindside him Reggie White style. Random yes, but for some reason this post made me remember it.

is Ainge doing good or bad? I read on here that Cutcliffe says he is doing good. On rivals.com they say he is really struggling. Almost losing the job to Crompton.

I am always weary of what the coaches say, because they sometimes would rather say the right thing, not the true thing.

Could be... Couldn't be. Mostly what I have heard is that Ainge is performing marginally better, but Cutcliffe says the mental aspect of the game is much better.

Isn't it a little embarrassing when Tennessee fans don't know how to spell UT's players' names?

There are 2 current UT football players mentioned. Also, I still cannot find where Ainge or Crompton is spelled incorrectly.

I was being a little anal this morning, but it's Erik Ainge, not Eric.

This will be my last post as a nit. More fun stuff from me, I tell ya.

Come on Vol-n-A, I expected a little more from you!Do I really have to spell-check all Vol names?:dunno: Tell you what, if we beat cal this week, it'll be my honor to spell Eric with a k.:)

Hahaha! Sorry buddy! :)

If we beat Cal, I'll stop nitpicking.

If we lose, I'll stop nitpicking.

I thought the same thing, but Cutcliffe doesn't seem like the type that blows sunshine up your butt no matter what's going wrong. I could be wrong about that, but he didn't waste any time in being critical of Ainge after the first scrimmage.

Hopefully Ainge has progressed substantially from the neck up.

Ok, what is the deal with Ainge? every site i go to scout.com, rivals.com,utsports.com etc...they all tell different stories. One will say he is doing excellent, that he is bouncing back. The others will say he is too antsy in the pocket and that he makes alot of bad decisions. Anybody got any accurate info on how Ainge is doing and if you think he is gonna be good this season. This QB situation had me NERVOUS. If Ainge stinks it up--we are SCREWED, what happens when Ainge starts doing horrible. I would be very nervous with Crompton this early.

I don't know why but Cut and Fulmer keep making teaser comments concerning Crompton when they talk about the QB's. One will say he's made alot of progress then this from Fulmer out of the Chattanoogan:
3. Are you pleased with the work accomplished thus far by quarterbacks Eric Ainge and Jonathan Crompton?

A - "I will be as interested as anybody else in seeing how we do there. We saw Erik as a freshman and then saw him drop off in performance as a sophomore. I think coach David Cutcliffe has been a great influence on him as well as on Jonathan, who is a big, strong prospect."
Exactly what do we derive from that? Is he saying that he's uncertain about Ainge? That would seem an odd thing to do.

Is he dropping a hint to everyone including those two guys that Ainge is on a short rope?

Or, is he just trying to say enough nice things about Crompton to keep him from thinking about a transfer?

Ainge is on a short leash, and the coaches are scared to death about how he might or might not perform. Crompton is just a few snaps away from a starting job.

Is that an opinion or do you know something?

If you know something, how would you expect Crompton to perform? Will he perform like a Freshman or do you think he can win games for the Vols?
