How do you get AA in rowing?
Each coach is allowed to nominate 4 rowers. They must have already been named to all-region team. Here are some of the items that have to be met to be eligible:
Row in 75% of the Varsity races (a kid who has been injured is going to possibly take a hit there)
Strength of Schedule (UT rowed -v Mich who was ranked #3 at the time, Princeton who is always a top team, and SanDiego was filled with great competition.)
Regular Season Record
End of season Regatta Results
2000m ERG time
I currently row a 2k in 9min, at 18 strokes per minute :hi: It is not very good, and it is kicking my a$$$. My kid is MUCH faster. But a long ways from being an AA.
Im not sure what the Lauderdale kids 2k time is, but my kid says she is "a freaking beast!"
Anyways, basically, if you are out there kicking tail, word gets around, and that helps. The Lauderdale kids boat kicked some major tail most of the year. And the showing that they put in at the Conference Championships, beating texas in the final, was epic!!
Sorry for the long complicated answer. We are pretty new to the sport, but it is awesome. It has been great for my kid, and we are enjoying the ride so far.
