LOL at Vandybuilt being on the list. Based on what? ESPN double hates us!

They have a 3 4-star prospects and a handful of 3-star prospects. Not bad, nothing spectacular though. The real shocker to me was Texas who is leaps and bounds ahead of everyone else right now. I think they could stop recruiting today and still finish with the best class.

Thats always the case early on with Texas. Their in state pool of talent is plentiful and kids grow up dreaming of playing for the longhorns. Their classes are usually close to full after summer camps...

Recruiting at Texas basically consist of going over to the front door, unlocking it, and letting all of the best players in Texas interview to be on your team. That's why it is mind boggling to me that they have been so bad the past few years. Mack Brown has really underachieved since Vince got him a championship.

According to Rivals, Vandybuilt has (1) 4 star player who would likely play a different position at any other school. They have (3) 3 star kids BUT they have (3) 0 star kids. So, the (3) zero star kids automatically cancel out the (3) three star kids. So, basically Vandybuilt has only (1) recruit.......................................

Or you can say they have an average of a 1.8571428 star ranking recruiting class. No way is that anywhere near top 15 class or top 25 for that matter..............

One notable thing about Rivals. Our #4 ranking is based on a 4-star prospect that is currently unrated by them. This would likely slide us ahead of Florida and A&M into the #2 slot.

What is the Rivals story on Lee? ESPN has him a 4-star; Rivals a no-star.

Still haven't heard the full story on that. What I have heard is either scout or 247 had him as the 87th overall player in this class about 9 months ago. Don't know if it was an injury or what that lowered their ranking but I have heard the kid has skills. Big time YAC WR is what Ainge said.

They don't have Jalen Hurd anywhere close to a 5 star, which is a joke. He will be consensus 5 star after he breaks Tennessee state rushing records his senior year.

If Hurd, Wharton or TK played in TX, AL or FL they would be 5 star athletes without question. Rating services are hedging their bets against the quality of players from TN.

That would be accurate to a degree. Espn did note that they thought the level of talent was low when grading Hurd. If so, why is Saban, Meyer, Richt and so on recruiting Tennessee players?

The zero star kids haven't been rated by their service yet.

Texas has had to 5 - 10 classes for years and they still have had some piss poor seasons. Mack Brown just is not that great of a coach or the Texas high school kids are being ranked way to high by the recruiting services. If you do not believe just look back at past TEXAS kids rankings and University OF Texas recruiting classes . They should be consistently top 10 team in country but they are not.
