For Kansas. Are you kidding me? Anybody hear andy katz' interview where he said and i quote "it's not like this Tennessee team played with a bunch of walk-ons"

WHAT?!

Not to mention every write up about the game pretty much says kansas should've expected to lose because of how motivated Tennessee was.. Ridiculous.

Well, his comment referred to that we had some athletes on our team. Not all walk-on.
Chism, Prince, Maze, Hopson were all sought out recruits..

I didn't hear the comments but I think the point is, Tennessee only had six scholarship players. It's not like Tennessee only played with those six guys. Not to mention, Chism and Prince got into foul trouble. Add sitting in foul trouble with getting short breaks, Tennessee did in fact win with a bunch of walk ons. They got a good amount of playing time.

No, he said it's not like we had a bunch of scrubs with our six scholarships players.

Hopson and Prince were five-stars.

Hall, Chism, and Woolridge top-100 players.

Maze was a top-5 JUCO player.

Katz makes a good point. Doesn't take away from the win.

That's a little different then. No arguing the Vols have good solid players. The walk ons conrtibuted a good amount though. It's pretty impressive that Tennessee knocked off the number one team with only six scholarship players.

Tennessee won with a bunch of walk ons contributing.

Does that fix it? :p

I did not take it that Katz was at all trying to take away from our win. Just that even though we only have 6 scholly players....they are very good players.

He was saying we have talented back-ups.. and we do..

Doesn't change the fact that they are walk ons. Tennessee had one scholarship player on the bench. No one said they aren't good. You just can't say they aren't walk ons when they are. 12 players suit up. Half of which were walk ons.

This wasn't a David vs. Goliath match-up. The Orange has been a bit underachieving to this point.

Didn't Pitt win the Big East with a squad that had 6 scholarship players left after injuries? Winning isn't impossible with a depleted squad

ESPN and CBS hates us.

CNN and FoxNews would hate us too if they covered us much.

ESPN had pretty much been praising UT's basketball effort all day

original poster, i think you migh be misunderstanding either a joke or sarcasm out of context...

and if they said Tennesee won/ should have because it was more motivated....that doesn't mean they're makig excuses for kansas

making excuses would have been like if they went on all day how that facemask in the green bay cards game should have been called and the pack shouldnt have lost the game

all the sports networks have done all day is praised our coach for beating the top team while playing shorthanded

I just heard Wilborn on PTI ask what is going on at Tennessee with our basketball and football arrests? He didn't want to talk about the game at all. We've had two issues and some are making us out to be Miami in the 80's.

Well of course they were! lol
I was hoping for an exciting hard fought game and was not disappointed. I think these boys gave it their all and then some! Seeing them win was amazing! Great game! :good!:

I definitely have felt or sensed a bias in some of ESPN and CBS's coverage of the Vols on occassion. It seems like they are always pushing the "dynasty" teams in both sports (exception being Florida, of course). It just feels like the UCLA's, Kansas's, UNC's, and Duke's are always being spoken so highly of by them constantly. Kind of like the Cowboys and Patriots in the NFL and USC, Alabama, and Texas in football whatever. Used to be Miami and FSU too back in the day. Never have felt the love for the big orange overflowing for sure. Maybe I'm just crazy and paranoid though... Feels that way a lot though....

Jesus, did anyone just hear Digger Phelps at the halftime of the Nova/UL game?? He mixed Tennessee up with about three different teams, calling us Memphis at one point... Now they (ESPN) are just referring to us as a completely different school rather than giving us some TV time.. jk.. kinda.. It was bad tho, kinda like one of Corso's rants

40 minutes per position. 5 positions to play 40 apiece= 200 minutes total. Walk ons= 46 minutes. We played with app 77% to their 100%. Simple., you could also so we played with 63 percent of our offense though this one is more easily manipulated bc the same shots were taken by different guys, even though exp, game time, and rythym still make this one about the same, 75% or so to their 100%

While some consider me quite the conspiracy theorist, I don't think ESPN cares particulary, in general as a whole. I think certain persons with a platform definately have their favorites(there are many who don't like many schools, not just us, period). ESPN is about the money, and that's mostly it. They cover what's breaking, and what people want to see. They are definately way more than just a sports coverage network, they are part of our culture. No one would cover Kiffins failures (just an example) quicker than espn, short of ?!TMZ sports channel?!?. =)They have nothing against us. BP got interviews today and the questions presented were positive. Although he told the guy on first take, who called Mcbee, Mack a bee, lol "first of all, he's not a jew, if he were it would be Mack a bee , but he's not, so its mcbee."haha. Were all good in Rocky Top land, and it truly is great to be a Tennessee VOL. Goin Tiger Huntin,Peace.

Are we so weak as a fan base that, when UT's name is on every major sports outlet, we are going to find the disrespect? Wow, this is ridiculous. You want the attention and then cry about what they say. Come on guys, and ladies. Let's be a little tougher than this. At least enjoy it for 24hrs.

OK rant over, I'll go back to reading.
