Is who we are going after now. How did we get to this point. Almost everybody else got their guy, why didn't we.

We aren't willing to pay a boat load of money.

Because we don't have it and Charlie Strong wasn't worth what Louisville ended up paying him. He is a pretty good coach but not a top 10 money coach. Money isn't everything.

I never said he deserved a lot of money. I just said we weren't willing to pay. And we do have the money. Just because we have little in reserve doesn't mean we can fundraise with the best if them.

Tom Jurich (UofL's AD) had told Strong he was willing to make him the highest paid coach in college football. He's nowhere near worth that, so I'm not all that bitter we didn't get him. But the fact that HE turned US down... Well, it says a lot. That's all.

There really is no one left.

Oh yeah, and we have an NFL owner as one of our boosters, too. :)

Okay smartass. Who do you want? Who is left that would satisfy the majority of the fan base?

That's what my last post was. Try not to take it literally.

Chill bro, I apologize but things have been so crazy on here lately you see how I could take you seriously. I just don't want Smart, Petrino, or any coach with a losing record that I have to google to find out who they are. No one except the great white whale known as Jon Gruden is going to satisfy the fan base.

247 website is saying Jones has been offered the job. If that is the case, I would look for him to accept in about 45 seconds. We may have our coach.

If this is true I am disappointed. Not the big name hire we needed. I will wait til he starts winning to get on his bandwagon. :)

I'm not taking the word of "JoeBlowSports.com", I'll believe it when I read it on UT Sports.com

I try to look at the coaching search like this....

Even Dooley had us very close to beating UGA, USCe, and Mizzou. Jones has won in the BE which is tougher than the WAC(LaTech). IMO, Jones is a good enough coach to get us over that hump. If Hart allows him the money to hire a top money DC, I think we will be just fine. With the beating Chaneys offense put on Jones at Cinci last year, I think he retains Chaney if Hart allows it. Pittman and Graham stay. I would love to see Hart tell Jones to go to Michigan State and get Narduzzi(offer 850,000.00/He makes 500) and our defense would be stout. If Jones is hired, I could see it working out.

If it is Jones or Smart, RIP UT Football.

I'll get behind either, but this is embarrassing.

Been fan for 42 years this is the most embarrassing I have ever been for Tennessee, even Vandy is making fun of us now, Vandy is telling the jokes now and we are the punch line, Mad as HELL at HART HE IS THE BIGGEST JOKE OF TENNESSEE SPORTS HISTORY. This is what I want to say to that BAMA MAN HART.:banghead2::finger3::furious3::realmad::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3::finger3:

Right, right. I apologize, too. And I understand. I've been pretty high-strung lately with this coaching change, as many have. Things around here have been absolutely unreal, that's for sure.

Not a fan of either, but I would hire Smart over Butch. He has a higher ceiling than BJ. He also has more unknowns in head coaching potential. We know BJ is mediocre but Smart COULD end up being a great head coach in a couple seasons. Wish we would've hired Gruden so we don't even have this discussion though.

If it comes down to Jones and Smart, I'll take Smart as well. He'll of course have to repent for all his Bama sins first and bring in enough orange blood to dilute his crimson stain.
