It's my understanding that ESPN has been trying to get a Lady Vol/UCONN game going for some time.

We all know that it isn't going to happen anytime soon in the regular season, and has not happened in the NCAAT since both have not recently made it to the FF at the same time.

BUT, if Massey is right, and the LVs end up with 10-11 losses, I could see ESPN doing everything within its influence to line up a 1 vs. 8 second round match up between the Lady Vols and UCONN (we know they would not line them up against USC since both are in the SEC).

Then all it would take would be a LV win against the 9 seed in the first round (not a guarantee with these girls), and a UCONN win in the first round (probably pretty guaranteed).

I could see ESPN pushing hard to get this done.

"At the same time"? One of the two teams is always there, and the other has not made it to the final four period.

This post is bizarre.

ESPN has been begging to set-up a UCONN/Lady Vol match up. Due to the animosity, it has not happened.

With the Lady Vols playing like they are, the ability to make the game happen may be a lot easier, as right now the LVs are looking more like an 8 seed than a 2 seed. Putting Tennessee in UCONN's bracket would be really tempting as a lower seed.

Trust me - ESPN would hype the 2nd or 3rd round like crazy if they could get this game to happen.

To ESPN's disappointment we would get knocked out in the first round.

That is a nightmare and I think you know for whom. I can't see why that game would receive high fan ratings, except for UCONN fans, because of the level of basketball we are presently playing.

I think your premise that ESPN is "dying" for a UConn vs UT game is wrong. I don't think there would be a lot of interest outside of their fans - at least not until UT rights the ship.

I just imagined us playing UCONN this year, which would likely end up as the worst loss in school history. I doubt Geno and the gang would take their foot off the gas following the first half dismantling (UCONN 73 vs UT 18).
