Gerry Hamilton: Oklahoma

Saturday is a huge opportunity to win an early-season statement game, and the Sooners are in need of a shot in the arm on the recruiting trail. The state of Oklahoma hasn’t been producing the kind of in-state talent in recent classes that were big in the years the Sooners were playing for national championships -- which included the 2006 class led by Sam Bradford, Gerald McCoy and Jermaine Gresham --so there is continued pressure to have success outside state lines.

Derek Tyson: Tennessee

While Oklahoma certainly needs a big win, Jones needs it even more. A home victory against 19th-ranked Oklahoma could jump-start this team to a big season, which ultimately will prove to recruits that not only is Jones recruiting at a high level, he’s turning that talent into wins on the field.

This is one of the marquee games of the weekend and with a national audience, the Volunteers have a chance to show recruits from all over the country that the program has made great strides. With big-time prospects such as ESPN 300 athlete Mecole Hardman, and three top 100 players in the ESPN Junior 300, William Poole III, Ty Chandler and Justin Foster all expected to be in attendance, the Vols are clearly looking for a great -- and winning -- showing.

Is there an update on who we expect will be visiting this weekend... Official & Unofficial Visitors?

It would seem that CBJ and Staff would be having several recruits in town for the big game at an O/W checkerboard Neyland Stadium. Hope the weather cooperates and the Vols come out with a big win and some impressed recruits!

Go Vols!

?? Is this based off facts or just a quick shot at the Big 12?

Baylor and TCU are the reigning champs and filled with nothing but 3 star recruits. Last 3 SEC champs are Alabama, Auburn, and LSU. All perennial top 10 recruiters.

To win in the SEC you need top 10 recruiting classes every year. Not so much in the Big 12.

People are overblowing this game. Yes it's a big time game and could be a huge momentum builder and we always want to win but it's nowhere near as big as a big conference game. The uf game may be r he most important game of the year.

Tennessee can lose this game and still have a great season. Lose this game and to UF and it could get ugly though. I think we win both those games though.
