Yeah, this is the official decision. In the article, Longshore says that Neyland Stadium is loud on the video game, and that it will be 100 times louder in person.

He's in for a helluva night.

So basically it was either the completely ineffective Ayoob or the sore back having Longshore... can't go wrong either as far as the Vols defense goes.

Longshore the starter: California Coach Jeff Tedford announced Tuesday that he was going with Nate Longshore as his starting quarterback against the Vols.
The 6-foot-5, 233-pound Longshore started the opener last season, but suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Tedford said Joe Ayoob may also play.
Ayoob is the more mobile of the two, but Tedford said he liked the way Longshore has run the team this preseason despite missing some practice time last week with an inflamed nerve in his back.

is this good or bad for us?

I thought someone posted a thread about Ayoob starting.

My head is going to explode.

Good, at least now we know for sure which CAl qb's going to be eating the grass at Neyland all night.

What???? I thought they said Ayoob. Make up your mind Tedford

In all fairness, Tedford never named Ayoob the starter. ESPN is too blame for this confusion.

As for who I'd rather have us play?

For a while there I was excited that Ayoob was slated to start. He's not a great passer. But then someone made a good point. Ayoob is far more mobile than Longshore, so Longshore would be easier to rush.

I guess I still want Ayoob to start, because we can run him down.
